Citibank Plat VISA 60 K , May 31

Hi

After an application process that was beyond farcical, I finally received my Citibank platinum visa and signed up for the QFF rewards. Once I'd confirmed the relevant QFF details had appeared on the internet banking site in the 'rewards section', I made several purchases. No points have posted as yet.

I was told my billing month ends on the 16th....I assume both the 60,000 points plus monthly spend points won't post until approx 16th of July?

Has anyone been told that Citibank only transfer points in 10,000 blocks? One Customer service rep told me this was the case though I cannot find any reference to this in any of Citibank's conditions online or what we received in the mail...hopefully it is BS as I'd be a bit annoyed if it takes several months for the points to post.

My bonus points appeared very quickly - less than a week after activation, and before any of my spend points, in fact (which is why the "didn't make the deadine" comment set of alarms on my Bull$hit Radar). These spend points were transferred over at the end of the month anniversary, when my statement was generated.

I certainly wasn't told of a 10,000 point block - and it is not in any T&C's I was sent, so will be fighting that one if they try it.

I keep fortifying myself with the idea of 60k bonus points and a dollar-per-point earn rate (better than my my old CBA Visa). It prings out the points-prostitute in me, I guess! ;)

It's just a bad call centre, don't stress. The 10k blocks of QFF points only applies to the CitiBank Business Gold card, which allows free transfer from CitiRewards to QFF without opting in to anything. I find emailing them gets clearer answers, as they actually have to look up the policy to cut & paste form-answers rather than just shooting from the hip.

Figured I'd apply for the 10k points bonus on the ANZ to test the waters with auto-reject, and low and behold rejected in 12 hours despite the minimum income being something like $3.50. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised, doesn't make sense for a bank to take on a new customer with 6 credit applications in two months :p

I had this same issue despite following the process to the letter so gave Citibank a call.

Apparently they will need to get "back office" to investigate this and have advised that it will take 5-7 business days for the 60K points to post to QFF.

After radio silence (and points not appearing in QFF) for 5 business days I called up again to check the status of the transfer.

First call I was advised the supervisor handling my case was at lunch.

Second call I was advised the supervisor was on a break but ended up on hold and eventually speaking to another supervisor for so long that the original supervisor I was dealing with was back from break. Apparently the manual transfer was only authorised today and will be in the QFF account by the end of this week.

On the bright side I discovered that if you call the international number listed under the 1800 number on the back of your Platinum card it skips the IVR menu and you get transferred straight to the operator.

I applied today for the 50k QF points and had a call within 2 hours saying I was approved and the card was a few days away. I'd also got an email asking for ID etc but apparently that's not required.

Hopefully because these are specifically QFF points it will be easier than the 60k to get them credited.

Isn't the 50K points also mean $250 for the card + $49 for QFF opt in?

The reason I opted for the 60K points is the $125 offer as well. Here's hoping all goes through to my QFF if I do everything in the correct order.

Agreed 60K link for $125 still appears to be valid.

Why would you go for 50K for $250 first year when you can get 60K for $125 first year? +$49 for QFF opt in either way (personally I have decided SQ is better place for my points!)

The saga continues.

With the points still not appearing in QFF this afternoon (and still appearing in Citibank) it was time to call up again to find out what had gone wrong this time.

The first CSR advised that I needed to be transferred to the 'rewards department', the second (rewards) CSR advised that I would have to wait until my next statement so I asked to speak to the supervisor who initially handled my case.

Again he was not available so I was transferred to another supervisor who initially gave me the same line around having to wait for the next statement cycle. Only after expressing my dissatisfaction at having waited two weeks and still not having the points successfully transferred was she willing to speak directly to the rewards department to chase this up.

After a total of half an hour on the phone, I was promised a call back in an hour and was told on this subsequent call that the transfer has been re-submitted to Qantas this afternoon.

So apparently the points might now be there by Tuesday next week...

Because I didn't realise the 60k was still available.

Is this 60k FF points or citi rewards? i didnt think you could transfer citi rewards only QFF?

If you read through this thread you will find the steps required to post these 60k points to QFF.

So after about 2 hours on the phone all up, I have decided to stay with Citi Rewards for now, and convinced them to give me an extra 10k points so I got the 60k total.

I think I'll wait until the next time Velocity offers a 25% bonus and transfer them all then.
Does anyone know if this is likely to happen soon? Aren't they doing a total revamp soon?

The points were manually transferred across on Tuesday morning so I was finally able to redeem a seat on QF9 in F!

Quite a lot of effort needed to actually get the points but I'm sure the award will make it worthwhile.

update , i called up and they said that the code PDW3B2CA is still valid and the first year fee is waived and you still get 60k points so i applied for it.

Just so you know the first year fee is not waived.
There is still a fee for the first year but it it only $125 instead of $250

For those who missed the May 31 deadline for 60k points, you can get 50k points if you apply by June 30 via qantas site: Frequent Flyer - Member Specials - Pay - Citibank

The 60,000 points offer is still avaliable Citibank Australia

Does anyone know how long citibank will allow you to activate the card before they cancel it?
A friend who applied under this offer should have their card arrive next week but they leave for a 2 week holiday on Monday

While the T&C's say they can charge whatever they like it is interesting to note that the welcome letter specifically notes the annual fee as
$125, debited to your Account on first use of the Account (including card activation), and then on each anniversary of the date Citibank approved your Account
so it may or may not be $125 next year under this offer. Then again this is Citibank so anything is possible.

In my small experience with Citi they don't seem to care. They asked me for a whole bunch of proofs which took me a couple of days to think about but in the meantime I simply got 'approved' (for a Gold). Citi seems to have sub divided their operation to the point whereby the left hand doesn't have a clue what the right hand is doing and doesn't care either.

I told my friend to apply for the plat to get the 60k points they are so dodgy they gave her the gold so she can't get the points she point blank refused it and then finally they gave her the plat. they just dont want to pay up the bonus points SIMPLE.

What credit limit did she apply for?

It's a minimum $10k for platinum.

I really dont think it's a a case of citi not giving the points.

My points came through within 2 weeks of my first spend. Yet my Amex took 4 months...

Oh her husband got the same treatment of not approving it and then later yes to both. They both specifically applied for the plat citibank and one got a gold and one got rejected at first and then later both got their wonderful 60k points each thanks to yours sincerely. LOL

amex original plat I have to push them since I am travelling o/s and got them to transfer it after close to 8 weeks considering it's 75k points direct to SQ (one way biz class to europe all worth the 900 bugs spents on the card)

For those who can be trusted with credit cards the credit limit you get to work with can be very important as trying to pay a bill that is 3 times your credit limit involves re-loading the card and getting the funds to be cleared quickly.BPay seems to work pretty nicely.

Got my platinum card in the mail today, 8k credit limit, the amount I asked for.
Had a look at the award policy, it looks to me that for a platinum card, you can earn 1.25 points for each dollar spend (domestic) and 3 points for each dollar spent internationally, but 1 QFF point for each dollar spend. Is that the case?
