Citibank Dining - Free Wine Offer

You should be able to claim the free wine as there is no way that the restaurant would be able to tell a Platinum with direct sweep from a Platinum without by visually inspecting the card. Just won't be able to claim the bonus points unfortunately.

I signed up for the Citibank Platinum Visa with a direct sweep to Qantas FF, instead of the Citi Rewards. My understanding of the small print is that my card is not elegible for the free wine offer.

Has anyone had success with the wine offer at one of the listed restaurants, using a direct sweep to QFF card? I have not tried to do this by the way.

I'm in the exact same predicament. I asked the CSR when I activated but as happy and keen to please as they were they didn't really answer the question.

From my reading though the dining/ free booze program appears to be seperate to the Citi Rewards program and only requires you to have the right Citibank card.

does this offer apply to the Citi business gold card?

Yes it does. I have used my CitiBusiness gold for this offer on 6 or 7 occasions and even managed to get an additional 3 QFF points for the QF offer at one restaurant.

Mind you, some restaurants are less than keen to honour the deal; but if they do then the Citibusiness will definitely count.

So you can get the free wine, bonus Citi points and then the QF points on the side...

this card keeps getting better...

On the same note, how do you make sure they are posting the bonus points... Citi don't seem to show you a breakdown of the points earned...

You would see the points on your statement, and there's a section for bonus points.

Are the bonus points only for citirewards and not those who opt for qantas frequent flyers? I went to Din Tai Fung twice in April and on both April and May statements, there's no mention of bonus points. The amount of points transferred is roughly equal to each month's outstanding balance

Correct - The bonus onlyapplies to those on Citirewards - not to those on the QFF rewards.

Note that I said that I managed to get both lots of bonus points at ONE restaurant only...Golden Century in Chinatown Sydney...most will say "choose one or the other".

The advantage of the CitiBusiness is that you get 1.25:1 rewards points which can then be converted to QFF points @ 1:1 (but only in multiples of 10,000).

So in effect, you get 4.25 QFF points per $ plus your free bottle of wine after a bit of mucking around. And if you can swing the 3xQFF points as well then.......:D

So do you have the specifically ask for the bonus citi points? I thought they did it automatically based off transaction records?

You notify them when you sit down that you are going to avail yourself of the Citibank Privileges offer; from my experience, each restaurant only has one white and one red available on the offer so you MUST nominate that you are going with the Citibank offer BEFORE you order!

Having said that, the red at the Golden Century was listed at $43!

Then when you go to pay, and before you give them your credit card, you hand over your QFF card and ask (politely) if they do QFF points as well; accepted without a smile in my case. I don't think you are supposed to double dip but there is no harm in asking.

In summary, you nominate your Citibank scheme before you order; the extra 3 QFF bonus points are just that: an unlikely but possible bonus.

Has anyone tried to get more that onebottle of wine in a sitting by dining with others who also have this card?

Got my free bottle of wine out of the program. I was a bit of an effort however... the waitress initially claimed that program was over... and then for some reason 5 mins later came back holding 3 different bottles of wine saying pick one... I hate restaurants that don't honour their deals...

anyway the wine was cough... =/ ordered more sake in the end

First try for this offer. Got my free bottle of wine at Balsamic Ringwood ... But nearly didn't get it as the waitress said I was supposed to have a piece of paper from Citibank with a "number " on it???

I've found at least 50% of restaurants try to avoid the deal in one way or another; it pays to understand how it works and make sure they honour it!

Might pay to put a print out in my pocket, just in case.

I have also found they try to avoid the deal but if you keep on them they will give you the wine :)
