Hi Folks.....first post:oops:

I'm trying to book award flight to LHR via HKG in J leaving around the 15th Dec 2007 and returning in Jan 08 using OW (I am QFF silver, likely to be gold at time of flights). Flights are opening for booking each day, but seem to be going fast. However there were no availabilities for Sat 14th.

Is there a "blackout" period where awards are not available and so I shoud jump on the ones available on the 13th in case I miss out?

My HKG stop over can be made on either leg, but will I be making separate bookings as each date becomes available....i.e. I have to wait until Jan 07 to book return the return leg.

Thanks for your help.

G'day turnip, welcome to AFF. (Not quite your first post but: ...)

Either there were no award seats put available for the 14th or someone else snapped them up first. You have plenty of time to arrange your travels; I suggest you take the 13th now ...

With award bookings it is always best to have at least some flexibility in what you are prepared to take, as the exact flight you want may never become availaible, and Saturday will likely be much more popular than Friday! On that basis, I would suggest you take the 13th, if you are able to fly that day.

The first thing I wanted to suggest your problem might be is that Saturday is the 15th of December in 2007, not the 14th.

But I'm sure that's not your problem.

I found J availability through Melbourne for departures on th 13th and 14th.

Are you trying to book direct from BNE? That might be part of the problem.
