China Eastern Delays/Cancellations

The Thursday 18 February MU728 (A332 B-5928) took off from SYD at 1232 compared with its departure time of 1130. arrival in NKG should be at about 2000, half an hour behind schedule.

The Saturday 20 February MU562 was timetabled out of SYD at 1200 for PVG but did not take off until 1326 hours - hence it will not arrive until a forecast 2038 hours tonight, 78 minutes late. Aircraft is B-8231, an A332.

Given the tieup with QF, MU has a higher profile in Oz than may have been the case a small number of years ago.

The Monday 22 February arrival of MU561 in SYD will be delayed from 1000 to about 1043 as it took off from PVG on Sunday 21's evening at 2117, 57 minutes after its scheduled departure. Aircraft is A332 B-5973.

The redeye MU737 from PVG to MEL is about to arrive at roughly 1050 on Thursday 25 February. Aircraft is A332 B-5931. The day flight back, MU738 is due out at 1200 so if the turnaround occurs efficiently and with no unexpected problems that next departure ought be on or close to time.

MU727 from NKG to SYD should have departed at 1930 hours on Wednesday 24 February but took off at 0157 hours on Thursday 25. It is close to its destination where it should be on blocks at roughly 1510 this afternoon, five hours and 40 minutes late. Aircraft is B-6538, an A332. The 1130 hours return working, MU728 cannot avoid significant delay.

UPDATE: The much delayed MU728 took off from SYD at 1652 and should arrive in PVG at midnight, four and a half hours late.

The MU739 (from PVG) arriving into MEL on Thursday 10 March is about 45 minutes late and should do so at 1425 this afternoon: B-5962, an A332, is the workhorse.

On Saturday 12 march, MU561 from PVG arrived in SYD an hour and 51 minutes late at 1151. MU562 back to PVG is expected to depart at 1330 this afternoon rather than its normal 1200.

While QF codeshare flight MU562 only departed SYD 25 minutes late on Easter Monday (28 March 2016) at 1225 instead of 1200, its PVG arrival is predicted as 2010 hours in lieu of 1920 - a deficit of 50 minutes.

MU737 (A332 B-6506), the 2005 hours Thursday 31 March PVG to MEL took off at 2110 and hence on Friday 1 April will be in MEL at about 1050, 50 minutes late.

As the returning MEL - PVG MU738 is timetabled to depart at 'high noon' it has a very good chance of doing so, as 70 minutes should be an achievable turnaround, although quite tight for this size of aircraft based on many other observations of various carriers' actual as opposed to timetabled performance.

The PVG - MEL MU737 arrival on Saturday 9 April will be at about 1045 instead of 0900 as A332 B-6546 was not airborne on Friday 9 until 2237 despite a timetabled departure of 2005 hours. As MU738 returns to China from MEL at a scheduled 1100, it will be delayed until at least 1150.

MU561 (2020 Friday 8 April PVG - SYD) is also badly late and should arrive on Saturday 9 at about 1130 instead of 0900; aircraft is A332 B-5949.

The Friday 15 April MU562 (1100 SYD - PVG) departed at 1128 but is forecast to lose time enroute, arriving at a predicted 2000 hours, 40 minutes tardy.

AFF has few reports of members travelling on this airline despite it being a QF business partner with QF codeshare flight numbers.

MU739, the 1240 hours arrival in MEL also from PVG is cancelled on 15 April. The 2140 hours MU740 from MEL back to PVG must also be not running but this is yet to publicly display on Melbourne Airport's website.

MU727 (Wednesday 20 April 1930 hours NKG - SYD) did not take off until 2131 and hence on Thursday 21 should arrive SYD at about 0940 hours, 70 minutes late. Aircraft is A332 B-5908.

UPDATE: MU728 departed SYD on 21 April at 1107, 37 minutes late but is forecast to lose more time with arrival estimated at 2035 hours, 70 minutes tardy.

On Tuesday 3 May, MU728 departed SYD 84 minutes late at 1154. NKG arrival was estimated at 2055 tonight (90 minutes late) but has not been updated on the QF website.

Tuesday 17 May 2016 sees MU740, the 2130 hours evening MEL to PVG cancelled. As MU is a QF 'partner' it would be interesting to hear from anyone booked as to how they have been treated.

On Wednesday 18 May, MU562, the 1100 SYD - PVG pulled out at 1052, eight minutes ahead of time, but showing how busy SYD can be during the 1000 - 1100 morning peak for international departures, the flight is forecast to be half an hour late arriving at 1950 hours tonight. In contrast QF129 departed a minute early at 0934 and is only expected to be five minutes behind time in arriving at a predicted 1835 hours. However the QF flight has a longer gate-to-gate running time.

On Saturday 28 May, MU562, the 1100 from SYD departed at 1124. Arrival in PVG is estimated as 50 minutes late at 2010 this evening.
