I would assume the wing wasn’t actually on fire, more likely something that’s attached to the wing. Does anyone care to speculate if this could be the same issue with an engine on the QF 747 that had troubles a few weeks ago?

Way to little information to make any such correlation. It could be many things that may result in a passenger making such a description. There is no way to tell from the linked media report if the "smoke" or "fire" was from the engine or from another component.

So it can't have been due to cabin crew roasting chestnuts over an open flame in the galley then.
