Just booked PEY SYD-FCO mid June and return late July for $1650 RT. Great fare and short layovers in Taipei all on their new A350. Looking forward to the experience.

Just flew CI Y+ SYD to TPE, the trip was excellent with great FB , service and entertainment. The current pricing it is selling I would highly recommend this product, although over 10 hours in PEY might still be tough.

Went to book a friend last night MEL-LGW in PEY ($1200 one way). But the only connection offered is a 1hr 30mins in SYD. (Friday night, 2040 to 2210.)

Too tight? Assuming bags can be through checked, but what about boarding passes? And without express pass security could be long. Thought?

They would probably be clearing custom at MEL with both legs checked in and boarding pass printed at MEL tho. Just check departure terminal.

I probably didn't make that clear... it's a MEL-SYD connection, domestic, on VA or QF.

However - have found a solution... the CI fare out of SYD is only $1029. Can add our choice of connecting flight on a separate ticket to SYD for $165, comes out $9 cheaper than the CI through price, which covers the train fare between terminals and a cup of coffee :)

Well, maybe not a coffee.

So I took up this sale offer, and booked a Premium Economy ticket to Europe (SYD to LGW, returning from AMS). I booked Y+ because the price was so just good, but now I'm having second thoughts that I should have booked J (at the time I didn't book this because although it was still good value, the Y+ price just seemed like a better deal). Anyway, I'm trying to find the refund terms and they're not very clear (I've booked into class 'E').

I'm wondering what's the best way to go about changing my ticket to a J ticket. Cancel my original ticket, and rebook in J (the sale is still on), or should I call their office and ask to pay the difference for a J fare? (It is not helpful that I can't find the refund terms!)

Any help much appreciated. Thanks.

The very cheap Y+ fares (super savers) are non-refundable. Reissue $200. Calling the office would be the only way to see if they will allow you to upgrade.

The fare conditions can be found by clicking on the fare box during the booking process.

Actually with the new customs and immigration process using face ID and passport scanning there are no longer queues that you have to experience through and the baggage as well as boarding passes can be sorted out at the origin. However with Domestic and international terminals not adjacent to each other and shuttle buses used to commute between the terminals that could be the tricky part otherwise i think an hour 30 could be enough...

Has anyone been through the renovated lounge in T2 at TPE? It has apparently just opened. Looking forward to trying out CI for the first time ever in a couple of weeks.

Shiny new aircraft have nothing to do with safety. You can rate them on service, price, and many other features, but you cannot tell what goes on in the coughpit.

Be honest, and accept that you have no idea...you don’t need to rationalise it.

I'm considering flying China Airlines. Are there any safety concerns flying this airline? The Sky Bistro Bar and extra cash in my wallet will only do so much cushioning in an unfortunate event.

I suspect they are more 'reliable' then their mainland China counterparts?
