Checking baggage to end destination on Oneworld

Hi

Flying QF5 on Friday arriving at 7.20pm and then on Malaysian Airlines to Colombo at 6.45am the next morning.

will be going to see some friends for dinner but will I be able to get my bags checked all the way through to Colombo?

Any help appreciated.

You should be able to, even on separate tickets since Qantas state they will do so when connecting to another oneworld carrier.
