Hi
Recently flew on VA Syd to Hervey Bay, however my bag ended up in Perth and did not arrive until 24 hours later as it had to be re-routed back to Sydney then flown up the next day on the 1 flight from Syd.
I was told at the VA counter in Hervey Bay that I could make a claim for the items I would need until my bag arrived.

I looked on the VA website but could only find a claim form for damaged baggage not delayed baggage.
If anybody could advise where I can find the claim form for items that I needed to buy that would be appreciated.

Cheers

Any info from others that have made a claim in the past would be appreciated :)

I was without my bag for a couple of days a few weeks ago and was told too bad! (only permanently lost or damaged can result in a claim) My bag was even damaged in the process, but because I wasn't there in person to show them, I would have no cause for a claim.
Complained on social media so they would finally answer and they basically just said I needed to submit a form to their complaints department.

Very disappointing, I had to buy a suit in Perth as all my clothes were in the lost bag.

My bags have been delayed with VA 3 times, so long as your bags are returned they think it's a good outcome

Thanks all for the info.
I spoke to VA today and was advised to submit my claim via their complaints department (as per hivetyrants post & experience above) and upload a scanned copy of my receipts.
Not holding out much hope now that I've read the replies above.

Certainly wouldn't hurt to try, I could very well be wrong! (I hope I am, I think it's obsurd that there is barely even a "sorry" when it happens)

But I'm sorry otherwise and can certainly sympathise. I looked and saw that my credit card DOES have insurance for this type of issue though ... Unfortunately I booked on the wrong credit card!!!
So depending on how you paid, you might have a backup option! Good luck :)

To be honest, a 24 hour delay probably isn't worth keeping the receipts for a tube of toothpaste. All the 'emergancy' things you need for 1 day are things you will use sometime anyway even a new shirt.

Compo for bag delay and other exps incurred? Good luck. I had a new cycling case trashed on a VA codeshare, not a chance of compo at all. Looked at going down the insurance route, but the retailer Snow Gear | Skiing & Snowboarding | Torpedo7 AU ended up covering it on a 'not fit for purpose' claim. I've had a lot of previous business with Torpedo7 and they'll continue to receive it, that's for sure, their service and prices are great.
