Hello.
I've tried to check in for my Monday flight from Melbourne to Manchester UK and I'm getting the error message "check in not available please check in at the airport".
We have booked J with points. Could this be the reason or is there something more sinister happening with flight cancellations etc
TIA

I think that s normal, I never could checkin online for my european trips, granted I never tried to input APIS data (passport details) on the website, I am wondering if that makes a difference.
Last trip was a J award and same story btw.

Covid paperwork checks prevent full online checkin thru to issuing BP.

Just an update. We checked in no problem through the website on laptop. It must just be the app that didn't let us.
Did it issue BPs? Back in Apr and May, I was able to “checkin“ for flights LHR and then home again. But on both occasions wouldn’t issue BPs.

Yes we've got boarding passes all the way through to Manchester.

You may still need to visit checkin in at the airport.

Things may have changed, but in May travelling HLO, I was able to check in online. When I got to MEL, I went strait to security/emigration but was refused entry as I did not have a "proper boarding pass". I had to go and get one.

If you are checking luggage then not an issue.

No. Nothing to do with points payment.
More to do with flying overseas.

You probably haven’t been flying overseas much, lately, have you? 🤭

🤣 Ha ha, yes strangely enough only flown domestic in the last few years.

As per @serfty comment, we did check in bags, showed vacc certificate and were issued with 'real' boarding passes.

Everything went smoothly, used Air NZ lounge which was so spacious and excellent personalised service, then popped up to SQ lounge which was packed and tbh quite grotty especially the toilets.

We have now experienced the dreaded flip over J class seats on the longest of the legs SIN to MAN and barely got any rest. not looking forward to the same back from Heathrow but can't complain for points booking. Made me plan ahead with Qatar and even Etihad for comfort and on demand dining for future trips back to the Motherland.

We got this on our check in from Seoul, but I had assumed it was due to my daughter having 2 passports (aside, with a polymer data page the new Korean passport is cool.) Covid paperwork makes sense too.

I couldnt check in from app or web, seems to be because the trip included a non QF flight at the end.

Probably it is to do with the current travel requirement to check all necessary documentation needed at the destination. I flew from MEL to HYD last week and was not able to check-in online. Had to show my documentation at the airport counter.

I was able to check in online via laptop, just not via phone app.
I still needed to show my vaccine certificate at baggage drop off.
