My points in Advantage would be coming close to the 18 month cancelation rule. That is if I have no additional qualifying activity in 18 months they cancel my points.

As such was wondering what the cheapest way of adding a couple points so I can extened the 18 months ?

Unfortuantley dont have the time or the funds to do any traveling domestically or interntional.

Are there any online stores in Aus that give you Advantage points ?

Are you hiring a car or staying at a hotel anytime soon since these can give you miles

Alternatively, you could buy some miles

Won't cost you anything but time. Should be able to get 100 AA miles in around 1hr playing the games.

Have you actually given it a try? There's a note in the Terms and Conditions saying you have to be a US resident to get a reward. They might well not check this at all though...

I have received AA miles for other such promotions with residence restrictions in the T&C's. When one considers the probable proportion of Oz based AA members to those residing in North America it's not surprising there's rarely any checks made on this for minor prizes.

Hmmm, when trying to post 100 points to AA, I am getting this error:
???en_AU.directDeposit.errortext.system.error???
???en_AU.posting.errortext..errortext.system.error???
I have changed my location to a USA place but still no go.

Any ideas?

Sometimes redemption doesn't work. Try again tomorrow.

I'd suggest checking / posting your problems in the Flyertalk Thread, since there are a lot more people using the site. There have three or four posts about this problem there.

Have you tried https://www.points.com - if you sign up and link to your AAdv account you will get 10 points credited to AAdv within days. Did this for my MiL. (not sure about residency requirements).

Mrs Serfty got an 18 months extension before the 17Dec deadline last year using this method (it was 50 AA miles back then).

Great find. I have hit a snag though in that I can only earn 1,000 Live Search Club tickets in a day. This takes me around an hour and is worth ~600 AA miles.

I haven't trying redeeming yet. I hope there are no issues.

At a small cost (but worth it if desperate to preserve miles), an Aagent told me recently you can 'donate', via AA, miles (250 minimum) to some program related to helping US servicemen (can't remember what it is called) who are/have served in Iraq. Don't know any more than that, except it has the benefit, if pressed for time, of being virtually instantaneous (according to the Aagent - I haven't yet tried it).

The reason I know this is that I swapped FF numbers (QF out, AA in) at the ADL QP when checking in for a recent flight, solely to extend the life of my AA miles. Unfortunately (boneheadedly, to be truthful  ) I got lysdexic with my AA number and reversed the two letters in it, so obviously it didn't credit (or at least not to me).

When I rang AA to try and correct it the Aagent said this process can take at least a month ("Qantas can take a long time with these"), hence I will be looking at an alternative method to keep my miles alive - some of the suggetions here will get a run.

I have had success with using my AA number with Hertz rental cars. Never get many miles with car rentals no matter which FFP is used

Someone mentioned recently that you can earn 1,500 miles in BD Diamond Club with every car hire. If that is in fact the case this is a good return. Just waiting, more like hoping, for the 9,000 mile offer to join BD Diamond Club to reappear.

One day car rentals overseas earn 700 QFF points which is OK.

What are peoples experiences in time lines for the posts from the live search club to AA to heppen. I just submitted one, and got the need to check against terms and conditions blah blah blah.

(and after giving up on the word games as tedious - find the Matt Lauer game can rake in points - just need some geograhy knowledge and it is all good :) )

Live Search Club is tedious. Unfortunately there is only a limited number of puzzles on the Matt Lauer game and the maximum tickets you can earn is 2,220.

Well, then I still have a little way to go :) For me though, it is somehwat less tedious that the word games. Although I am now being hammered by the CAPTCHA puzzles that appear.

See the flyertalk thread. Matt Lauer is easiest, and you can get ~2200 points over two days in approximately 2-3 hrs overall (~1hr/day). Other than that, play Flexicon or one of the Chicktionary style games, and use a scrabble word solver, if you can't think of words or hints aren't enough. Other games are often too slow / or give too little.

Generally points post between 2-4 weeks after submitting the redemption, and often only one or twice a month.

You can only get a max of 1000 live search club points a day, so if you go full bull (and spend ~3-4hrs/day), then you get 7,000 points a week, or 365,000 in a year (assuming you don't reach the limits of a game, or live search). If you redeem using the 4,300=2,500 miles option, then you can get a max of:

4,000 AA miles/wk
~210,000 AA miles/yr

in a single account.

Is this where you have to correctly identify the 5 fuzzy characters that appear on the screen in order to continue? I don't always get it correct on the 1st or 2nd tries.

Hopefully it will all have been worthwhile when I redeem a Oneworld RTW award with AA points....
