MH is steadfastly sticking by the 'everyone else was doing it' and 'someone else said it was safe' arguments.

What am I waiting to see? That while they are working with ICAO and IATA for better air space regulation and notification, MH will undertake its own expanded environmental scanning. This would include all available news sources, and what all other airlines are doing... not just the airlines that suit them because they are flying where MH wants to fly. They have not made that case out.

Any? I notice Lion Air are now flying SIN-KUL, but when I'm taking that sector in a few weeks time, I'm not convinced they're safer than MH.

I just think if you are going to recommend avoiding MH, I would suggest there are numerous other carriers that the OP should avoid for exactly the same reason. I have not yet seen particularly compelling comments from carriers that were in the vicinity of MH 17 at the same time, SQ & AI (as well as TG and others, including several European carriers who flew over the area on the same day) where they publicly indicate they are now owning the problem too (other than statements they are avoiding the area in question) .... thus using this same logic should also be avoided.

Probably would make your insurers very unhappy :!: A bit like the advice insurers give in a car accident, don't admit fault.

I would check for any option but MH. A recent interview with the commercial director again seems reluctant for MH to proactively manage, on their own, the safety of the air corridors they fly through.

I must disagree.

There is nothing in that article which suggests that MAS are anything but a well run and safe airline.

They have merely called on a coordinated approach to managing airways.

I have flown MH post events and will continue to do so.
