Changes to the way you earn points

Amex Ultimate cannot be changed until Qantas agree I believe so it is now a winner.
Citi Select is a winner for Visa and they have two different ones so we have both.
westpac Platinum Kris Flyer and Westpac platinum Altitude are great Amex cards but throw away the attached Visa cards.
These are the cards that can work well on ATO bills.

Just have to calculate the actual earn rates compare to other credit cards. DJ and Asiamiles conversion is very attractive. I have lost 15% of my points, but 25% better in conversion. Just that for the Cent card holders now you might not earn more points. I wonder if the Centurion shopping partners is available to Plat. Now that I can see a trip to Hour Glass will retrieve most of my lost points.

Just checked and partners is available to plats as well.

Do you have a link to the partners for plat?
Under MR program, premium points partners in the Plat site. Don't forget the regular point partners though. Will start up a thread regards to this.

Do I need to login to the plat charge site before I can see it? If yes I can't as I'm waiting for mine to be sent out! I have the plat edge now...

Yes you do. There are 28 in all and you get 3.5 bonus points ie I read it as 4.5 points in total. A bit lazy to list them out right now, but no cheap place so to speak. I have a thing with watches, and will start selecting my shopping with the regular bonus partners which could be found here: Amex Bonus Rewards | HOME

Thanks. I guess I will wait until I get the plat charge to see the list for myself :) Also the only bonus partner I used on my plat edge card is AAMI so far..

DJ and Asia Miles are of no interest to me. All my Amex point in the last 9 years have been laundered through SPG to AA. Prior to that they went to QF. I now have almost 1M AA miles which is more than enough for my current plans. I could do with some top-up to QF account to use for upgrades (redemptions will be via AA). Work travel is all on corporate Diners (laundered to AA via SPG). So my current Amex spend is only personal spending - no business or work travel included. So we are talking a spend of maybe $50K per year. That is not a significant number of points/miles and maybe I am better to just use my free Plat Mastercard and redeem for pre-paid Visa cards. Pretty much none of my Amex spend is with Qantas (all goes to Diners). Most is on groceries, fuel, school fees and some tax-deductible donations. I don't have ATO bills (they pay me each year) or any large volumes of business expenses I can funnel through an Amex credit card. Its normal household personal expenses only for me. So after 20 years, I can't see any reason to continue paying an annual fee for this card for my personal spending pattern.

Good call. I might pull out some of the other Amex that I never use.

Used NAB Plantinum Amex for the first time in 3 years yesterday.
It was fee free from NAB as part of the package but never used it.
It should be $1 - 1.5 Qantas points and that's the card I will use for ATO bills come 1st OCT.
I suggest Cent card holders start lobbing for the $1 - 1 point gov payment to stay.

Well, my nab Amex will get some usage then after October. I don't mind some more points with with QF anyway as I start to fly domestically a little bit more these days.

There is no cap on NAB Platinum Amex.
But capped at around 4300 point each month on Gold.

I'm looking at switching from my Qantas Discovery AMEX to one of the BMW AMEX cards so that I can get MR points instead of QFF points. Are all cards going to get their utilities and government points reduced to 0.5 points? I assume insurance companies like GIO and AAMI would also be included. Anybody know what will have to the 5x rewards for GIO and AAMI will we get 5 x 0.5 points?

I've found the answer "You will earn 0.5 points for every dollar you spend in Australia at merchants classified as: “utilities” which are gas, water and electricity providers; “insurance” (excluding insurances offered by American Express); “telecommunications providers” which includes goods and services purchased from phone, mobile and internet service providers; “government bodies” including the Australian Taxation Office, Australia Post, federal/state and local government bodies."

For some reason it wasn't letting me modify my previous post. Still wondering about how the bonus points will work.
