Changes to QF Loyalty Bonus (now includes status credits)

The picture Samh004 posted upthread might suggest otherwise - judging by the date of the post and the date specified on the activity statement. Interesting question in any event.

Definitely! I'll hopefully be able to test it at the end of this month.

Yeah - Lifetime WP status please :D

this is about all that I would be interested in to keep my 'loyalty' to QF.

As usual, the 50 SC does little for LTG who are comfortably retaining WP and given that they are no use for P1 I cannot see the point for me. I can see the value for those chasing SG or WP or close to losing status but these are pax who have spent less on QF so loyalty is qantas-speak for "enticing lower spenders to spend more and who cares about those spending the most ith QF".

Good to know you can choose each time (if no hope for or easily met next level qual, take the points).

Sorry I disagree with the Princess *cringe*

1. QF website (at least in one place says otherwise)

2. When I got that email a few weeks ago (we are neck and neck it seems in SC earn right now :) ) it had the OLD branding (gift wrapped P1 card). My gut feel is that this template/mail whatever has not yet been enh... updated to reflect the change.

Yes, I understand the argument that the webpage has said 2400 QF/JQ only SC's for a year or more but has not been enforced, it is obvious this is a *will happen* not *maybe* based on the current LB changes. The only positive is that if one gets to 2400 and is not offered these due to some non QF/JQ SC's just pull out this email and they would have to grant the gift.

my 2 cents only. Donning armor to hopefully survive the wrath of the Princess!

Okay so I now have my first loyalty bonus option. Having just reached WP and with 13,245 LT SCs I think I'll stay with the 8,000 points. I should be able to get to 14k before dropping to silver (NOOO!).

I guess I'll wait the a maximum time before deciding just in case flying pattern changes a lot. It's not like points earn interest :)

My membership year ended yesterday. I requested a loyalty bonus of 50 status credit today. They were applied to my account with today's date (1 December). The pie chart of my current year's status credits remains on 0. I was silly and didn't look at my lifetime tally before I requested the bonus to see if it counted there. [-]I hope tomorrow brings clarity. Otherwise, I feel like I should've chosen points.[/-]

Edit: I did not need to wait that long. After a couple of refreshes, the pie char and lifetime tally have both updated. Success!

So in summary / to confirm.
The are applied in whatever year you choose the bonus. ie the next/new membership year and they do count towards life status?

Probably doesnt help me. Im probably going to get my next bonus on 26th Dec and my anniversary being 1st April means i will have to elect for points.

Yes, that is what I see in my account. I had until 26 February to make the choice but did it today because I couldn't wait to see what would happen.

Just opted into my first loyalty bonus since the change.
Unsurprisingly I went for the points instead of SC, seemed pretty unnatural to do so but no choice.

I'm REALLY surprised the LBSC applying to the membership year when they are redeemed. That's very interesting to read.

That's very interesting. I will wait to redeem my next LB until next year in that case. A helpful little 50SC head start next year will be quite handy.

Same. QF really needs to tighten up the wording for this so we can be sure this is what to expect.

I'm sorry to say this but I can't help but feel this is a bug and not the intended result by QF. It sure doesn't follow any SC earning benefit or promotion ever seen before that I know of, nor ANY global airline practice that I am aware of.

It would not surprise me at all if this was corrected at some point. I wouldn't pin future SC earnings on this newly seen behaviour IMHO.

This is surprising. I return home from a trip about 2 and a half months before my membership year ends. I might wait till the new year starts before taking the SCs if they apply to the year in which they are redeemed if I don't need them for this year. Others travelling with me may do the same.

I'm surprised by this as well. Now if true it might be worth getting the SCs in the new membership year. Definitely changes my thinking from points to maybe SCs to help with qualification

Will you have that long to decide?

You have 90 days from reaching the loyalty bonus, I think. So 2 and a half months would be less than that if the bonus is achieved on the flight home. If on the flight over then one would have to make the decision earlier.
