Changes to QF lounges in Singapore

Same as NRT - you get a F class invite however, I'll be buggered if I can find a Flounge separate from the general lounge.

To be clear - we were traveling CX.....it was an early morning flight & a family trip. If it was drinking hour - I probably would have dragged the kids to the better lounge;)

Just thought it was funny that they hand out Flounge invites with a map to the lounge.....only to find a bog standard joint lounge.

FWIW I watched an OZ couple being refused access to the HKG wing J & temp Flounge Wednesday evening.....have no idea if they were eligible but I clearly heard the agent state - you are travel QF, you need to use the QF lounge. Later on I wondered down to the cabin and saw the couple hooking in!

JAL use the SATS lounge at SIN. Its also accessible using a Diners Club card and in my opinion better than QF lounges. The F section is just separate seating. I think they share the same food/beverage buffet, toilets/showers etc.

There is an "F only" Food/Beverage buffet beyond the entrance to the F area - the food at least has a greater range. Not sure about the beverages.

Thanks. Must have missed it when I was last there. But even the regular section food was better than QF F and J lounges when I last compared.

I agree. The two or three times I've used the SATS lounge, there's always been a much greater selection of food than the QF lounges.

Somewhat off-topic, but now, at a small cost, Tiger pax can now access the SATS lounge in T2. So it appears that Tiger pax now have access to a better lounge than QF pax do in SIN.

Any confirmation of a date or week for the opening of the Qantas First Lounge?

Sorry to be the one to tell you ..... but QF has cancelled the new First lounge in SIN (in light of the new DXB hub plan). It is continuing with the revamp of the Business lounge, as planned.

There is some speculation that BA may take over the management of the SIN First lounge, but this has not yet been confirmed.

That's a shame.

What's going to be the best option for me instead then? Flying First through to London as a Platinum One. Is it worth trying another airline's lounge?

There really isn't another airline's lounge - just the Skyview lounge that CX use/operate.

In the first lounge Singapore tonight, not crowded at all, lots of champagne and chicken legs tho...haven't been here for ages, will be good to see a new lounge in the future.

Re: SIN lounge new first and business? P1 and WP access (temporarily?) different?

(Bump)

From QF Web Site:

"We're excited to let you know about the new Qantas Singapore Lounge we're developing, due to open 31 March 2013. The Qantas Singapore Lounge will feature a new standard of luxury for you to enjoy, and will replace the current Qantas and British Airways First Lounge.

A three-month construction period began on 7 January 2013 and requires closure of the current First lounge. During this time, you'll be able to use the following lounges in Singapore:

1. Qantas First customers and Qantas Platinum One Frequent Flyers will be able to use the Emirates Lounge
Level 3, Departure Transit Area

2. Qantas Platinum Frequent Flyers will have access to the current Qantas and British Airways Business Lounge

3. Qantas Business customers and Qantas Gold Frequent Flyers will have access to the SATS Premier Lounge

4. Qantas Club members will be able to use the Skyview Lounge

Our ground team will be available in Singapore and happy to offer further assistance."

Now the bolding is mine because it's the first time I've seen a distinction in lounge access between P1 and WPs.

I know, temporary, and a first world problem after all.
However I hope the benefits of WP are not headed for the slippery slide in a slow and exhausting process

I find it interesting that QF has done this. It is not as if moving, what I assume, is a handful of pax to the EK lounge will significantly reduce overcrowding in the BA/QF lounge. I can't believe there are loads of CL's and P1's, even with the great double SC giveaways, and the number of F pax is relatively limited. (I wonder what BA is doing with their F pax?)

That said I have to say the EK lounge is a calm oasis after suffering the crowded QF/BA SIN lounges over the last couple of years.

Re: SIN lounge new first and business? P1 and WP access (temporarily?) different?

FWIW I was directed to the old Qantas & BA First Lounge last week. Crowded as usual but I did not spend much time in there as I stuffed up in KUL.

Good to hear "Final Call" for flight and get to the gate only to wait around for ~20+ minutes as the security line was extremely slow.
