Changes to Qantas Club Access

Perhaps you need to slide a fiver over with the FF/QP card ?

I really don't think a letter will make any difference since they are just enforcing the published rules. Even in Melbourne, when I have pointed out the rules they have always complied.

I must admit, keeping the rules strictly enforced is a good thing overall.

The idea of Qantas Club is its a place away from the noise and distractions of the terminal and screeming kids.. a place to catch up on some work, or surf a few good cough sites.

If they bend the rules for everybody, every QP would fast turn into a `Sydney Dom Friday Evening` all the time .. 60% full is 100% full in my books.

If it's hard to get access to, then it makes it all that much sweeter when you do get in!

Which is why I keep my rugrats firmly under control when they are in there. They know not to play up, they know what the consequences will be (now that WILL be upsetting to the assorted QP members, seeing me take my belt off.....

I thought the QF computers had NetNanny or something similiar on them...

But allowing staff discretion for those who ARE entitled to access generates goodwill amongst those members, and ensures they will fly QF rather than DJ next time.

It is already hard to get access. Allowing a guest in is appropriate, exceeding the guest allowance *might* be appropriate in *certain* circumstances.

And I am not talking about getting two business colleagues in for a Gold and so on, you want the extra guest, you buy the guest card.

But I think it is unreasonable to split up family groups travelling together, and to do will generate far more angst than allowing them access will generate to *other* QP users.

Family no problem

Sunday Sept 19, travelled with Wife and 11 yr old son and 4 yr old daughter. Had no trouble entering both Meb and Syd Dom QC lounges. They looked at boarding passes but did not swipe card or passes.

Came back yesterday (Sept 23) via Brisbane International, again had no trouble entering the club with family (and she did swipe the boarding passes).

In all cases the clubs were not too crowded.

At MEL, paradoxically it is probably easier to get more guests in when it IS really busy. Simple go in, drop your first guest off, exit come back in with second guest. As long as it is with a flash of the BP/card and there are lots of people entering (and you exit again with a called flight), then they probably wouldn't recognise you again, or if they did they mightn't recognise your guest. If really quiet, forget this, they seem to pay a lot more attention. At SYD, with two entrances, this of course is not a problem.
