Hi all,

firstly, thanks for a great resource.

I thought I would struggle to obtain the points I needed for my 130,000 points to London (40,000 short) but with a couple of signups, looks like I might just get there - if Amex and Citibank come to the party!

Anyway, I should have those C/C and points within 2 months (assuming their promise is correct) - given that, am I likely to have success booking 2 x return flights on Qantas to London in April 2007 if I book say by end of June?

This is my first redemption and I have heard it isnt so straight forward - especially with the Qantas sale ?!

Booking an QFF Award April trip for Oz to Europe and back in WHY 10 months out is not really difficult; just be prepared to be flexible with dates and times.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

For 2 econpmy class award seats there should not be any problems. Be flexible with routings, looking via SIN, BKK, HKG, NRT, BOM etc. Also look for BA, CX, AY and JL flight combinations.

OK cool thanks.

The MEL-LON fee is 130,000 points - if I book via say Hong Kong will it be the same amount?

And do I just do it on the QF website or is it easier to ring up and speak to someone who can give me options.

'If possible' look at doing via the web site however you may have to fall back on calling QF. (extra cost 2500 points)

If you do it via the web site it will automatically calculate the cost required as you go through the process.

Cool thanks.

PS. Amongst FF, is there a "best" value combination for points/distance?

Like say somewhere which is really far but doesnt cost a lot!

Surely there is a destination which is super cheap ie good value...

not using QF FF points. The points requirement is typically a lot higher than other programs (especially for premium cabin travel) and they still add on the fuel surcharges (which many other programs don't).

QF FF awards are all distance based, so the only variation is within each zone band. Find a destination that is at the upper end of the band range rather than one that is at the lower end of the range. But most people chose their destination based on where they want to go rather than being better or worse value.
