Chairmans Lounge (CL) experiences

ADL had the tanq 10... Im preeeety sure it's about the only reason I like transiting through ADL.. otherwise I try to stay well away!

Nah DRW doesn't have a CL, would be nice though.. May get one.. They are doing a $50 million expansion of the airport which Advertises 3 new airline lounges.

As for the question about CL surveys.. Er most CL members prob wouldn't even look at it.. One of my bosses who is a CL member didn't even know the significance of it... He certainly wouldn't fill in a survey for QF...

Another question - how does CL status show on QF BPs these days?

At one time it was "CL EMERALD QF*******", but has this changed since QF changed their BP status displays late last year?

As an idea, QF WP shows as "FF PLATINUM EMERALD QF*******", whereas before then, it was "FF PLATINUM ONEWORLD E QF*******"... just curious, as I think just having "CL" on the BP might make it a little hard for staff to notice it (though they do have the manifest) :)

Re: Pre Intl travel call from the P1 desk

So, another CL question:

I've heard that QF send CL members travel preference forms about once a year. How specific are these forms exactly - particularly in regard to seating preferences? Do they let you list specific preferred seat numbers on each aircraft type and configuration (and in each cabin) - such as 1A for A380 F, rows 11-13 A380 J, 80A/K/EROW 'window' A380 Y, row 4 aisle 738 dom etc etc etc, or do they simply ask which parts of the cabin you'd prefer to sit in (eg. any 'A' seat in A380 F, bulkhead in dom J etc etc)? :)

There's a section where you get to list your preferences in terms of the opposite sex, so if loadings mean you can't have a shadow they'll try and seat someone attractive next to you.

You can also list the names and QFF numbers of up to 3 people you don't like, and QF will do their best to either lose their luggage, sit them in a seat with a faulty IFE, or wedge them next to a morbidly obese pax.

Well, that's what would happen if I was running things at QF. WP's would get looked after too.

Brilliant suggestion!

I usually get asked at the CL around June (when I pass through). They keep a record of my seats that I pick most often and then they ask me if these work. They then lock it in the system. They also take meal preferences (ie I love the Ahi Tuna in First) and try to make sure that they are always onboard. They also can take drink preferences which are told to the crew (ie when I get onboard I LOVE a pink lemonade).

Re: Pre Intl travel call from the P1 desk

I went into the Chairmans Lounge in Melbourne domestic a few years ago (as a guest) and it was quite nice. I am only a bronze FF so normally no lounge (I was flying business so I guess I would have on that occasion)

From memory a few things:-

The lady at the front desk took your boarding pass and then came and got you when the flight was ready.

The drinks were all free pour including the spirits

The telephones allowed you to call mobiles / STD - I don't think the normal QP does that

it was amonday evening and they didn't have foxtel to be able to watch the rugby league.

Other pax were white middle aged business men. Only other person I spoke to (outside our group) was a very senior federal public servant but as he was my old boss it was hardly a special meeting.

There must of been 4-5 of us on top of the CL no problem to all walk in. (we were all in business suits, don't know if it would have been different if we were in shorts.

:D Being in MEL, I doubt any Foxtel would have been showing league in any case.

Re: Pre Intl travel call from the P1 desk

Was standing outside the BNE Domestic CL yesterday, while waiting for my delayed flight to board. Was surprised at just how busy the CL seemed to be. But one observation, everyone I saw going in and out of there seemed to fit a classic profile...
