Any other forum in the world it would be "missing in action", but here it is "Miami International Airport"!

Missing in action is very dramatic but I like it. Just like May I Ask (MIA)
:?:

As a Centurion member for a number of years and having looked through the whole thread I am astonished no one has mentioned the discount companion fares for F and J flights. these can pay for the card annual fee on one trip. I also like the Hilton Diamond benefit and stay extensively at Hiltons and Conrads in base room bookings to always receive suites and club benefits. The Limo pickups and airport fast tracks are also handy. I must admit priority restaurant booking benefits are quite poor for us West coasters but thats nice when you call on a Friday night and want to book a table at an exclusive restaurant that people cant get into for weeks or months and you just get a no problem and complimentary drinks or deserts. The MP Diamond has been great but alas no way of keeping status and has been confirmed with Amex it was a once off:( I also use concierge extensively for both business and personal and when I cant be bothered organising my points to book my travel i give the job to Centurion to organise the difficult itineraries and they do it for me. The fee is expensive but so far benefits far outweigh fee but still assess anually.

I agree it's a big benefit and I've mentioned it in previous threads. There are quite a few threads like this and I get a bit tired of repeating the same information! Glad to have somebody else to share the load. :)

Homer I had been meaning to ask you a question about your discounted F fares - these fares were never 'offered' to Cent holders were they - you were lucky enough to enjoy these discounts after you 'inquired' through Concierge Service am I correct?

The reason I ask is because I have only tried Concierge a few times - once for J flights to Europe and probably 3 or 4 times for hotels in China.

The flights I could buy anywhere cheaper than what AMEX Concierge offered - FC, BF and direct online with SQ, CX - China hotels I can always buy cheaper direct online than what AC offer - am I seriously missing something here?

The individual and companion fares are offered in the magazine and on the Centurion web site. Plus my Centurion Travel agent offered them to me on several occasions when I inquired about flights. As far as I know, you need to use the Travel team, not the Lifestyle (concierge) team for this. But if you happen to ask someone in Lifestyle they should put you through to travel.

Having said that, you nominate CX and SQ in your post and, in my experience, the fares on these carriers were not particularly great at the time I inquired.

It would have been nice if AMEX had thrown a few points at prosepctive Centuron members with the invitation like they are with the Platinum charge and credit card offerings at the moment :(

Sorry my bad - yes I meant Travel.

Same fares as platinum but Limos each way and fast tracking only for Centurion. You even get limo one way when buying y and will match any J and F if they arent cheaper

The companion fares are not necessarily the same for Platinum and Centurion.

Platinum are up to 31% discount, whereas Centurion are up to 46%. That is according to the respective brochures and websites.

Of course that would be dependent on the right fare bucket being available etc - and I'm sure the Centurion companion fares at a greater discount are in shorter supply. I would imagine once they are gone then the Platinum fares would be available instead.

Also probably depends on the individual airlines.

I did use the service last year under my Platinum card and go a great deal to the US on JAL in J, which was about half the price of QF, although about 4 hours more flying time. Mind you, I did get to stop in Japan which as far as I'm concerned is a good thing.

But the same companion fares are also available for platinum charge card holders ...

As others have pointed out, the companion fares aren't always the same. I just checked with Centurion Travel to confirm this before posting, and they confirmed that there are often Centurion-exclusive fares that are not available to Platinum members.

See - you have performed a useful community service - we simpletons need the input from you wiser and more experienced contributors.

If one is concerned about bonus points, then perhaps Centurion is not the right product for one.

lol - the only reason I could justify the extra fee are the bonus points till 500k :). Everything else is just icing on the cake. However, don't need any bonus for me to sign up - that sort of destroy the aim of the card.

Meh, bonus points just give you additional challenges during the year and makes spending on the card even more enjoyable.

Centurion seems to get a large amount of vocal detractors questioning the value (just like the Platinum charge card does). Amex seem happy to throw points at them to encourage a $900 annual fee, so why not with Centurion? I'll have to wait to see if I am wowed by the offering when I get my card (aside from the derision I am likley to get from my friends).
