Caviar!

Totally off topic - here is some fruit caviar that was on the breakfast buffet at the airport Intercontinental in Joburg this morning - guava and rooibos.

"Fruit caviar"?
That is what it was called - looked a lot like caviar (as you can see), although with the fruit colour. Tasted quite distinctly like guava or rooibos. Hate to think what processing was required to make it...

One does not like to think! Glad I wasn't there.:)

I'd hope they won't just dump it on people like the US airlines tend to do with nuts.

I googled it and it probably isn't too bad. Mix fruit juice with agar agar and heat then use a dropper to drop in cold oil to create the caviar like appearance. Tasted very nice. :)

Good news!
Caviar and expensive champagne are two things I get to enjoy only when flying F (even managed to score a whole tin for breakfast once on TG :D ).
Looking forward to try it onboard QF in May.

I declined the caviar on my last two F flights (SQ, TG).

Maybe that was why you got the whole tin ?

Like JohnPhelan, I'm in the not-impressed camp.

Caviar for the top girls and guys, nowt for the masses!
I thought Qantas has been improving food offerings across the board? Didn't they recently extend hours for serving hot meals domestically and I thought I saw something about improved offerings in economy?

11.30am QFd flight ADL - SYD small quiche or minuscule chicken fallafel mini roll.
Not even cider was available on the flight.
They should put money into retiring debt/reserves/dividends than paying for suppliers of caviar!
Lobster bisque next?

Are you expecting QF to serve caviar in economy?

I for one applaud QF's decision to try to upgrade its premium cabin offering.
