Card suggestions

I was also tempted with the better earn rate [from SELECT] but just now I don't know if it will be worth $700 a year, but it is something to keep an eye on for the future.

My rough calculation showed that you would need 10K or more per month to get additional benefit from Select (over AMEX-related MC/VISA).

Perhaps a lot more against Signature.

I thought I could keep it below that but ... not so good, so far !

I thought the Citi Sig was offering 1.5 point per $1 which can be transferred at a rate of 1:1 to Singapore and Virgin.

FYI

Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer program
Citibank Rewards cardholders can manually transfer their points to Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer program.

As of 1 September 2013, redemption of reward points on Velocity and KrisFlyer Frequent Flyer programs will only be available to cardholders who hold the following cards: Citibank Rewards Credit Card - Platinum or Signature or the Citibank Select Credit Card and who are enrolled in the Citibank Rewards Program.

Citibank Rewards Credit Card - Select Signature and Citibusiness cardholders:
1.5 Citibank reward points = 1 KrisFlyer mile, redemptions must be in multiples of 15,000 Citibank reward points

It seemed like the rate was being questioned when in fact it was the same rate that was stated earlier by both you and myself

Thanks FromTheRail. Your research is very useful as I am trying to find the best cards for my spending patterns as well.

No problems, I have hit a snagging point though.

Despite having an airline branded Amex and a direct Amex card from the UK they have refused me a card in Australia until I have been working for 18months (am self employed but under a 2 year contract with a minimum 6 figure earning clause) even though I went through the global transfer program??? I have been self employed for more than 2 years before coming to Australia, but they seem only to accept Australian accounts.

So it looks like bye bye Amex, you have been good to me and got me here in First/Business but our time together is over...

Rails concerning the Westfield XS are you getting $20K loaded ones?
As it it is EFTPOS do you think paying for a caravan or car is possible using these?

I was in a very similar situation to you - arrived from Scotland, self-employed, similar contract terms.
I spoke to WestPac Migrant services - then went in store to arrange Altitude Black. Only thing needed was 3 payslips - easy as I get paid fortnightly.

Still got my BMI and BA Amexes. And a SantanderZero for cheap overseas spending.

Hi All,

I too am in the depths of a card portfolio review...since Citibusiness gold no longer allows 1.25 pt transfers to QFF.

With the Amex Platinum Edge, is the transfer from Amex rewards to other reward programs (eg VA/SQ etc) 1:1? So If I spend $10 at woolies = 30 MR points therefore equivalent to 30 VA/SQ etc pts?

A belated welcome fiBer. Yes the Plat Edge earns 3 pts at supermarkets and 2 at petrpl stations. Transfer to FF schemes is at 1:1.
Would you like a referral to earn an extra 5,000 bonus points?

Thanks Prozac. A referral would be great...however does this cancel out the current 10,000pt sign-on bonus?
