Re: Capital connect services Ex CBR

ZOMG! You seem to have stumbled across my point!

They've gotten to a place where they have a consistent ERJ product out of SYD, with a bit of a mishmash out of MEL (QF are a more reliable option now for CLs/staff/bureaucrats with the move away from the DHC-8-3s) of ERJs and 73G/73H. The fact that they're starting to fly turboprops in a market where they are generally detested, particularly by premium pax/FF members, does not make them a more attractive option.

.

Well if that is really true I suppose it's then also true that they have nothing to lose by cutting their
fuel costs and fly a turboprop in. Since flying jets didn't make a wad of difference and nothing else will, then why not just cut loses, service the market they've got with the cheapest aircraft to run an
d improve their margins even if they don't improve their client base. Sounds like a better idea to me than to continue to throw money down a fuel tank by providing a service that no-one really gives a fig about.

Or maybe...they figure if they run turboprops they can afford to match the frequency of QF, oh...and when the new terminal is built match the lounge offering as well and at least have a shot at the market that detests them so much.

Does anyone know how much DJ's capital connect service will cost? Last time I checked (not all that recently) CBR - SYD on QF was $129 and only $65 on DJ (without luggage). Has their price gone up accordingly with their new service?

Hmm, a CAPCON service at DEFCON status in preparation for AFFCON!
Travelling PREMCON!
In the end I travelled MEL-CBR due to storms - the service was announced as being complimentary with a wine/beer/softdrink as well (6pm flight).

Being in PE, I did not see what the food was but the FA's were happy not to have to deal with payment/reconciliation with a 44 minute flight time.

I knew the FA the other day didn't like me issuing a 250 ml can :(

Re: Capital connect services Ex CBR

So what's the verdict? What do you get served on a MEL-CBR flight?

5pm CBR-SYD PAX received drink with bread sticks and dip.

MEL-CBR 6:06pm PE PAX received tray with Chockie, Cheese, bickies, Trail Mix, Dip & drink. (Same for PE CBR-SYD @ 5pm)

Re: Capital connect services Ex CBR

Spoke to CS yesterday 250ml is the standard soft drink now, they fit 40 more on a cart apparantly (Interesting that the price has stayed the same (I know once its all said and done it wont matter, but a bit rude ATM)), and by next year, well, Everybody will get something on every flight (Drink/snack)

I like the smaller can. It's not widely available, so to me it's cute when getting it on a plane.

Plus on short flights, drinking 375ml can be a struggle or generate an urge to use the facilities.

Re: Capital connect services Ex CBR

I flew SYD-CBR on Sunday at 1705 as a paid PE passenger. Was offered a salsa dip and bread stick thing and juice or water. Asked for a pepsi and was told none on board. Asked for a cheese and crackers and told no option as this was the Canberra connect offering for all passengers at that time of day. Not overly bothered but it makes the value of a PE fare on an E190 seem a bit silly.

Almost identical to what Qantas serve on this route. I love the little cans of Bundaberg Ginger Beer so hopefully Virgin will offer those as an option too.
