There may be a need to cancel return leg of next trip for wife/daughter due to family emergency.

Is this possible? Booking class is Q which is economy value. Both cancellation fee and no show fee are $390 which I assume are per person.

Note that all 3 of us are on same booking and I'm returning as normal. The return airfare was just over $1000 per person and there may not be a lot left over after cancellation fees applied + I'm not sure if possible to cancel once journey has commenced.

Also I've read somewhere that SQ refunds genuine taxes if cancelling flights and these do not have a cancellation fee applied to them.

Does anyone have any experience with the above? I don't recall ever being in this situation. I normally wouldn't worry too much but possible one-way airfares are going to be expensive so trying to recover anything if possible. We won't know plans until as late as day of travel.

Also have 3 VA awards SYD-BNE in business on same booking so will need to split this booking and wait and see what needs to happen.
