sorry to revive an old thread but I'm really not happy with my recent experience as it relates to this thread I will put it up here.

Booked Qantas 10k Award + 27GBP fee flight on Iberia in Europe

Qantas e-mailed me that the flight has changed, called Qantas to see if I can re-schedule to no avail, but after supervisor "David" was put on the phone he said my options are to either keep the flight I was changed to or cancel without penalty.

I even repeated myself to be sure I would get the 10k miles back + 27GBP. He said Yes.

24 hours later I check my Qantas account and there are no future bookings.

I also don't see the 10k back in my account, so I put in the booking reference + last name to search for my bookings and find:

Tue 30 Mar 10 09:00 12:00 QF9092 Economy 90 minutes before departure ; Total Price = £26.50* GBP

This is not what I was told would happen.

What gives?

Re: Cancellation of red e-deal

This probably should be going into it's own thread, as it's completely different from the OP situation and it may cause confusion when the OP's question from 2006 is answered by other posters.

That said, call up QF again and ask what's happened to the points? If IB has changed your flight times then you are well within your rights to get a full refund of cash + points.

Check the 9092 flight number.

I have seen this before when cancelling award bookings.

This is a temporary situation and should normally right itself in ~48 hours.

If not then call again.

thank you both

this is what I was told by the QF rep when I called earlier today

will wait and see

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements

The QF9092 is simply a dummy flight number used by reservations that is "booked" into the pnr for a date in the future in order to keep the pnr "live" and prevents it going into history (no longer retrieveable).

That way any history to the booking can still be accessed like contact phone numbers etc plus the eticket will still be there.

It's commonly seen when pax need to cancel their flights but don't yet know what dates they will travel on. When pax decide on their dates they simply call reservations, quote their original booking number then fare is reassessed etc and new etkt issued.

It would seem that while this booking could still be used again they won't refund the points but clarify this with QF next time you speak to them. If you definitely won't be utilising this eticket then they should proceed with reinstating your points back into your account.

Cheers

Oz

JohnK's post had me worried so I called Qantas when I made the original post at 7am Sydney time.

Now, by 12pm Sydney time the 10k miles have been returned and are visible in my Qantas account.

thanks all!
