Can you take additional amenity kits with you if the cabin isn't full?

J and F amenity kits make great presents for family and friends on returning home (what better way to say 'I flew Business Class and you didn't but I was still thinking of you?'). They are usually on your seat when you board. If the seat next to you remains free the whole flight is it okay to take an extra amenity kit with you? I imagine it would be pretty easy to just pop it in the overhead before take off so you have extra space and then put it in your hand luggage when leaving? (I accidentally wound up with TK noise cancelling headphones in my hand luggage once - I didn't even want them).

If the J or F cabin is half-full can you take as many as you want? I understand TG F packs are actually quite valuable. If the cabin was full and you begged the crew for an extra kit for 'my mothers birthday next week' would they give you one?

I usually see a lot of abandoned, unopened ones when rolling off at the end of a flight - who's to say whether some ended up in my case? ;)

By the way, Im not suggesting boarding early and swiping other passengers, Im asking if you consider it okay to take those left on an empty seat the whole flight.

Do airlines dispense F amenity packs personally or are they on every seat before boarding?

Mine was in the suite before I got to it ! Personally I would ask and if refused I would not push the issue by removing it at all .

usually you see the FAs collect the unclaimed ones after take off - I would not usually take these, the ones that people don't open and abandon on the other hand...

Many airlines with F don't leave it at your seat AFAICT - they are hand delivered to you. At least, in my experience that's how it's been. J is a different matter, and may be placed at your seat before you board.

I have no problem with taking additional amenity kits. If they are hand delivered by the FAs, I politely ask if they can spare another one. If they are on seats before boarding, then wait until cruise and if not taken, take it; if the crew have collected them, politely ask for another one.

If the crew say no, then so be it. I don't mind the extra kit at all, but not at the expense of putting out a FA or putting them into an awkward disposition. Some airlines "double cater" (or "over cater") their amenity kits, e.g. so they have enough for the return journey, or continuation journey.
