Can you pass you FF number and points as part of your estate?

Why not? They split everything else (note forcefully take) including things the other person has accumulated for many years before entering marriage.

Having been through a divorce I am pretty familiar with what happens, why I was surprised was the simple fact Qantas imply they have no value!

Now I think we all know not to believe everything Qantas says.

If QFF points did not have any value then they would not be able to be redeemed for awards or used for upgrades....

There is no point referring to the T&C as they can't change the law. (yes i do realise you understand that) This is just a case where the law says the points do have a value and hence overrides the Qantas T&C. I guess the only point of the T&C is so that anyone who disagrees then has to take it to court to override the T&C.

I think the simple solution is to direct your family to do a family transfer just before your death. Then it is all above board.

If it turns out that in the distressful situation the family do the transfer before informing qantas.....well......

On a side note, I am off to Canberra today for this Henry Tax Review lockup, i was thinking during the week that i hope they continue FF points to have no monetary value otherwise we'd end up being taxed on them.. I hope and pray i don't see something like that when read through the papers...

Even if QFF points "have no monetary" value, they may have some other intrinsic value.

Take, for example, 100K QFF points.

Monetary value = $0.

Send 70K to an eligible family member, they now have an additional 70K QFF points at an additional monetary value of $0, and you have 30K QFF points, again with a monetary value of $0.

What I am indicating that points can indeed be distributed/split/shared, but all quantities of points still have no monetary value.
