Hi to all,

I'm new here & hope the more experienced fliers can help me out on this one.

I'm flying return: Cathay Pacific BNE>LAX, with a transit at HKK, then American Airlines from LAX>RDU.

I have 2 Qantas Club passes (not a QC member & demoted to bronze QFF) - will i be able to use the passes in any lounges on this trip?

thanks!

They are only valid in Qantas Clubs as far as I am aware.

So BNE would be the only option

No, they are only valid for access to a Qantas Club lounge when flying with Qantas (or possibly Jetstar). The usage criteria should be printed on the cards.

Just read the back of an expired one I had from last year:

* You must present the invitation on arrival at the lounge and be travelling that day on a Qantas or Jetstar flight.

Invitations are valid for Qantas operated lounges only and are not valid for Oneworld alliance, partner airlines or associated lounges

LAN wouldnt let us into their lounge in SCL with Paid QC depite being on the codeshare. Or when we were flying with them.

AA let us in in EZE despite flying on LAN and being paid QC ("Unfortunately that's paid memebrship, not oneworld stauts, but it's not that busy and I'm happy to invite you in on this occasion" - so I guess the lounge supervisor used her discretion to let us in, but it was quite clear it would not be a regular occurrance.)

I think your odds with QC passes are pretty slim.

 As a paid QC, I get into the the CX lounge at FRA when flying QF. Does that mean its considered a QF operated lounge?

No, it does mean is a QF operated lounge. It means QF has a commercial arrangement with the owner of the lounge to allow access for its Qantas Club members, OneWorld Sapphire and Emerald passengers, and business class passengers to use the lounge. I very much doubt this commercial arrangement extends to the use of Qantas Club complimentary invitations which specifically state they are for access to a Qantas operated lounge.

Thanks very much. I wasn't sure of its status. Certainly, I knew it isn't a QF operated lounge. But it isn't even considered to be a QF lounge, and that would be meaningless for access by paid QC to that lounge anyway.

My question was only about paid QC not the invitations so a bit OT.
FRA lounge is not a Qantas operated lounge. However, a paid Qantas Club member does have access to the lounge facility contracted by Qantas for use by their Qantas Club members, OneWorld status members and business class passengers. The FRA lounge is operated by Cathay Pacific.

For a list of lounges accessible by Qantas Club members, see the Qantas web site.

Doh! complete brain fade can't even understand my own reasoning. (it is not and not even considered to be).

Thanks very much for your replies!

I think part of my confusion came from misreading this section on the Qantas site:

"Qantas Club members with Bronze or Silver status are unable to access oneworld alliance airline lounges with the exception of British Airways and American Airlines® lounges which can be accessed as part of our partner airline agreement."

Which of course, I'm not a QC member.. just have comp passes.

Cheers
