Can i get bumped to Gold early?

Hi Guys,

I'm currently on 625 status points with Qantas and I am flying back to Melbourne from Seattle on Saturday.
Is there any chance i can ask Qantas to bump me to gold since my flights will get me over that so i can get into the lounge in LA?
I have a 12 hour lay over.... and this would seriously help.

Sorry to say but your chances are somewhere between highly unlikely and buckleys.

No harm in asking though as miracles do happen occasionally.

Thanks for having me on here, it is incredible the amount of information on here...
I havent had to fly that often in the last few years, but now work for a company that does require me to spend some quality time in the air, so i am on here checking out what you guys have experienced.

Qantas is really clamping down on comp upgrades.

Apart from a few isolated incidents they will generally not comp anyone a status you do not already hold. You need to earn the status.

Have you looked at a day pass in the Admirals club lounge. Is it ~US$50 for the day?

For a 12 hour layover I might think about a hotel room rather than the lounge, just for a bit of privacy. YMMV.

A $50 AC day pass won't provide entry to the *O lounge at TBIT but would give access to the A/C at T4.

Probably too late now but being in the USA, a US$99 Admirals Club 30 day membership may have been useful for your trip. (Although there is no A/C at SEA)

That's exactly what I would do (and have done) even although I have lounge access at LAX.

The public areas at the new TBIT are better than the OW lounge anyway. Go down to Santa Monica or Venice. Day use room at Hilton LAX usually about $80

Yes i think a visit to Venice is on the cards, haven been there for about 5 years. Or maybe a bit of shopping at an outlet mall.
