Camping in the club

Living in regional Australia, very long connection times are a way of life. I usually have a brief conversation with the lounge reception and tell them I'll be there for 4, 6 or 8 hours. Always welcomed in and I often get a personalized boarding call "in case you fell asleep". So, no never a problem camping out in the lounge for the whole day.

Air NZ has restrictions on domestic and partner lounges...
This must be relatively recent addition to the terms. I never came across such in relation to NZ domestic lounges when I was *Elite with Airpoints.

N...... I've been stuck in SCL lounge for 9 hours once. Although about 6 of that was in the sleeping room. .......

I have done quite a few 12 and 14 hr stopovers in that lounge. A couple of times with wife and kids (too stingy to pay the reciprocity fee x 4 plus 2 x rooms at the Holiday Inn :) - food mediocre but the sleeping area is great, especially after long-haul flight + time change where getting out into the city, etc would never be pleasant)

The op would have no problem whatsoever. But has been noted, there are lounges (not QF!) around the world where they have maximum stays strictly enforced.

I've done at least 4 hours, but hadn't heard of much people taking the full 8 hours. Like others said, you should be fine.

3 hrs in ADL QP and they have never come looking for be.
6.5 or 7 hrs is a bit obvious.
Maybe it's OK.

Chances are the staff in the lounge may change over during a stay that long so not always obvious.

I also recommend @Mrmaxwell's suggestion. No guarantee but definitely worth asking.

Hi all - OP here.

Spent the day, no problems. One thing I didn't anticipate is that the staff change a few times throughout the day. So no one working in the lounge was there long enough to realise I was there all day anyway.

Thanks for all your feedback!
