I've read that this is possible but the embassy in Canberra advises getting the visa before departure. The problem is I am on assignment in Japan and return one day before we fly to SIN and then a few days later onto Siem reap. Might try getting one here in Tokyo (have a meeting there in a couple of weeks) or perhaps in Singapore before we fly. Does anyone have experience with this? Thanks

Any of the 4 consulates (Sapporo, Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka) should be able to help you with this. I've not had experience with the Cambodian consulates per se, but have gone to various other consulates for visas for my Australian passport. It's usually a very quick process and very simple. :D

I got a visa on arrival at Siem Reap $20 USD and a passport photo. Takes 5 MIN or you can do online as well.

We did this as well.No problems. In fact virtually everyone on the plane did so took 10minutes for all to be processed though we were virtually first.

Same experience here - you pay your USD (cash) and passport photo and you get tourist visa on the spot once you land. Its a nice small airport so its very obvious what to do and there is only a short 5-10 minute wait to get your visa.

Note that my experience is for tourist visa, wouldn't take my advice if you are trying to get business, etc!

We used the e-visa in January 2010. It was a little cheaper than buying on arrival, and of course there was no queue. The website link is Kingdom of Cambodia - Ministry of Foreign Affairs & International Cooperation
I confess to having felt some anxieties re using a credit card to make this purchase, but there have been no repercussions, even after 18 months. Have a great time, we loved Cambodia, a land of so many contrasts and great people.

We got our visa on arrival at the airport (Jan 2011) and as we were the first ones off the plane, it was quick and easy and judging by the people behind us, most opted to do the same. I looked at doing it online and decided against it. Enjoy Cambodia.. we LOVED it :)

Airport arrival is luxury compared to a border crossing.

Offtopic. I got mine land border entry at Aranyaprathet, Thailand/Poipet, Cambodia
I also got ripped of USD 15 as the minibus had Americans in it. However the did get a visa
before I crossed, no probs as they just want your dollars.

****tiest border crossing experience ever, where the 'carport' is another 500 meter walk up the road. The temples were good, but the 700 elephants pulling huge stone blocks used to make it probably thought otherwise.
One way of splitting the blocks was to drill holes using steel rods, insert dry wooden pole, then soak with water - wood swells expands, rock cracks hopefully.

The best of the best has been stolen by the Thai's, progressively nicked by a succession of invaders, then in .vn war, lots of heads of statues were lopped off to sell for the war effort

Like other readers very easy to do when you arrive. make sure they give you paper work on the plane for Entry Vietnam airlines didn't but still no real problems. Just remember a passport photo and then look in amazement at how many official people take your passport before you get it back. Mine passed 19 sets of hands before i got it back. Just wanted to laugh but wanted to get into the country first. Have US dollars to pay for it also.

No hassles with getting a visa on arrival at airport.

So true. I have done it 4 times, just have your spare passport photo, visa form and USD ready. Try for a rear seat if on turbo prop as rear stairs will be used.

Great town, great sites, great times.

And yes, there will be 88 different hats to process you. It employs more people in a very poor country.

Enjoy

Thanks AFFers!. We're pursuing the online route. And yes, I love the idea of "full employment" in some countries

Appreciate his thread as I am in Siem Reap in August and was hesitant to do the online thing. Great to know that it will only take 5 mins on arrival :)
