So,
I spent $200 for
SYD-OOL-MEL-SYD
I am plat.

so do i times the 200 x 5 and then double it for miles earned...and my red husband just gets 1000??

or is there a diff calculation.

Totally confused.
It seems every time I fly domestically I seem to get different points compared to this formula.

thanks
Karen

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

That should be it, but it will of course be allocated by leg.

thanks....

God i miss the miles flown = miles earned....so much easier

Pluses and minuses.
When I was a VA Plat it made it an easy decision who to fly on expensive last minute fares

I guess us mathematically challenged would rather it be a tad more simple... I find that if you use sock puppets and a white board to explain these types of things, I can understand.
Do you think VA could implement that for Plat status....as a value added perk??? maybe I could tweet and ask....

fingers crossed.

Was Velocity for domestic flights ever like that?

i have only really had experience with qantas international and delta before the last year or 2.....delta was easy...god knows what they are doing now....

No - unless you mean a domestic sector of an international itinerary, but that's a bit of an edge case.

It's easy enough to work out for Platinum - take total booking value minus CC surcharges and multiply by 10. How they allocate points per sector is a bit .. odd sometimes, but it should all work out.

Love it or hate it ... but a lot of FFP are moving towards the points per $$$ spent .. VX and DL come to mind .... won't be long till the other US based airlines do the same

And QF has gone part way their with its 'simpler' tiered system

Strtrek, but as we all know, its not important now these days that we have earnt FF points by miles flown/fare paid, but more so, the sectors that add up to the SCs.
The more stops/sectors, the better.
ADL to BNE direct is something like 15 SCs.
Though, ADL to MEL earns 10, and MEL to BNE because of the number of kms = miles flown, earns 15, so a stop as you and hubby did, is good in earning him more SCs.
BUT if a person flew ADL to SYD, then SYD to BNE, thats 20.

sc's are my catnip of choice :) but i am now chasing the miles so i can use them for my int upgrades

i have my credit card linked, and am shopping up a storm...but I cant let the stragglers get away if i can help it.

to clarify....i get total paid..take away CC fees then times whats left by 10.

for hubby do the same but x by 5.

easy.

I have an excel sheet tracking them all as we go....so this will help a lot....let the online shopping continue !!!

Credit fees is a huge angst of mine, ... wouldnt be too bad if it was taken into account for earning frequent flyer points. Grr. I pay my fares by Visa/Mastercard debit, (no credit cards), so I don't gain frequent flyer points off credit card spend. So credit card fee bites deep. Poli payments is good.
Status is important, because once hubby gets SG with VA, he can some more benefits with VA's partners, NZ for eg. If and when he travels alone, but partner travel has its perks too.
VA does not have a Platinum1 so you are at the acme/apex, but he has a long way to go.
Stops are a bit more expensive than direct, with both VA and QF, good way to earn SCs.
Ok, right, let the others add their bits.
