J award using BA points can you upgrade to F at checkin?

I have a friend travelling SYD to LHR on BA in J but has enough points for f . has anyone been able to UG to F at checkin in Sydney.

I think it’s cash only at check-in if F available.

I presume it would be a horrendous amount as well.

For my upcoming J award, the minimum bid is 599pounds for lhr-sin ba11, and 769 for Sin-lhr ba15. Bit surprised it s more expensive to bid for the shorter segment. Maybe there is higher demand to escape the old club world seat on ba15?

Confirmed upgrades via the app/website appear months out. But if they’re taken, then obviously no more can be offered.

Can to see the fare availability via EF?

I am accessing it via the qantas app. The I pick request upgrade, and choostle the bid nows upgrade, it then display my two segments, with a "view offer" link that opens up a browser view on the ba site to continue with the request. it s a bid upgrade, so not confirmed
