Maybe the case for the product provided by hotel, but the ingredients between the body wash and shampoo i use at home are quite different.
Are they the same brand and product line? Different brands will have different formulations.

No but body washes have moisturizers and other soap like ingredients that are very bad for your hair.

Some people dont have much hair to worry about, but i have long, thick, curly hair and the shampoos i use dont foam up like body wash does; and conditioner is essential.

Body wash and shampoo are the same thing. Most places provide two separate bottles, but look at the ingredients: it's the same thing with different scents or colours so you think it's different.
They may have the same ingredients, but the formulation will probably vary. Shampoo tends to have a lower level of surfactants. In most cases, you'd get away with using a shampoo as a body wash, but using body wash on your hair would be less ideal.

I also have long hair and wash my hair daily. I agree that conditioner is essential -- I've never encountered a hotel conditioner that was any good. But most hotel body washes are fairly simple and have the same ingredients as hotel shampoos. And most hotel shampoos are fine. There was a Choice study a while ago showing there wasn't any difference between cheap and expensive brands of shampoo -- it's much more down to the conditioner.
