...
I may try to get on this in the coming months, but am worried about being able to buy tickets for flights that originate in NZ.
Never, ever, ever had a problem in dozens of purchases ex NZ.

I used to buy Oz->NZ one-way, then NZ-Oz-NZ return, NZ-Oz-NZ return, ... and finish with an NZ-Oz one-way.

It generally cheaper that way.

e.g. The Standard (non sale) cheapest base fare between AKL and MEL is NZD235 (~AUD188) each way in Q class. Equivalent Q class fare purchased in MEL is AUD219 each way - that's an AU$80 difference on the round trip.

Hi All, Thanks for all the information shared in your insightful posts.
Risking going OT, but has anyone experience of flying DJ HKT/PER in J?

I'm considering DJ RTN-HKT/PER/HKT for Ms PJ and I, flex to and requesting an upgrade to business using Pts - at least one way - I'm DJ Platinum
Have searched unsuccessfully for any reviews or trip reports about J class travel on DJ HKT/PER, including a reference to a trip report on this route by Serfty, but I haven't been able to locate it?

Am a bit concerned that the DJ 737-800 J class seats may not be so comfortable a for 6hr 30 min overnight flight that leaves HKT @ 23:59pm. Pillows, blankets, etc.

Hi

I've accomplished this in the past, booking a Y fare from Singapore to ADL and there was definitely a saving.

Can someone let me know if something has changed, as I'm trying to look at tickets from ADL -> LAX but cannot seem to book any flight via the Qantas website without the flight having to originate from that country. Am I doing something wrong or have they recently closed this loophole?

Thanks
AB

I could be wrong but I thought that that limitation had always applied -- or certainly to my recent knowledge. Doubtless there are clever people here who can advise on how to overcome the restriction.

You have to change it to the QF US site in order to do what you want to do.

I just booked 2 lots of OS flights through Zugi and am impressed so far with the service..

Originally looked at:

1. HKG HAN 26 Dec
2. HAN BKK 31 Dec

First I looked at numerous airline options and got the web prices, also looked at flighttracker.net and thought about using my cousins UK based travel agency she owns, then looked at a multi stop on Zuji, hands down winner cost wise. Ended up on CX operated by VN HKG HAN Y then HAN BKK J for half the price booking through VN or CX.

I was so impressed, I then booked my BKK SYD (routed through HKG) home (CX QF) and saved the phone booking QF wanted as well as taxes I believe as the flights in Y were ~600 each!

The HKG HAN shows up on CX website, a quick call to VN secured row 2 for the next leg, and the final legs on QF where I grabbed 2nd row of Y AB seats, I will put in req for UG to J prior to the flight..

Zugi rocks as far as I'm concerned!

Oh my hat, that does sound outstanding.

And you were able to pay with your Australian credit card? I had always thought that airlines triangulated your ISP country code and your country credit card and prevented people from booking fares in other countries.

mannej... definitely tried the QF US site, however it will not allow you to book a flight originating from Australia, no matter what I try.

Any ideas anyone?

You need to set the Qantas site to whatever country (more or less, can be region) you want the flight to originate from. So, for a flight originating in Australia, set the country to Asutralia.

After a brief absence experimenting with BMI cash + miles I will be returning to purchasing QF economy airfares ex-SIN.

Some of the flights I have been looking at are really cheap and coupled with a walkabout pass can provide for some cheap domestic flights during peak times.
