The killer for me is (as I would only use this for a couple to fly);

CAN I ADD EXTRA PEOPLE ON TO MY BOOKING?

Yes, up to 3 additional passengers may be added to your booking in the application process. They will be charged at the current flight price at the time of booking incl. taxes and airline charges.

And that you have to nominate 3 different possible destinations makes it less attractive too.

Yep, that combined with this:
My friend also has a free flight voucher; can we fly together?
No, vouchers cannot be used in conjunction with one another.

Great 'semi-mystery-flight' if you're a solo traveller, but not if you always travel +1.

You could still both submit a claim with the same dates and destination preference and cross your fingers, but I wonder if they'd notice and send you both to different destinations out of spite? :)

I note: "A flight is valued at approximately $300.00, depending on departure point and destination."

Honestly doesn't look too appealing to me and I fear I could end up on Tiger, after all, they're trying to get the lowest cost.

But Tiger doesn't fly to NZ, which is on the list...

Given that they're trying to book you a flight after buying $40 worth of wine, I can't imagine they're going to book you on anything that costs more than $50. Jetstar, Tiger etc, and only where/when they have cheap fares.

Out of Canberra you can choose Wellington, Auckland and Christchurch as the 3 destinations. Flying to NZ and back certainly costs more than $50 and Jetstar/Tiger aren't an option on this route out of CBR.

Initially I thought maybe this is VA, a lot of the routes seemed right. But then the CBR destinations threw me. I still think VA though (only VA/QF/NZ fly MEL-WLG, for example).

Buy 6 bottles of qualifying wine (can be under $10 per bottle) and get free return flight.

Interesting promo. Pity they didn't at least allow 2 people to go to the same place on the same date.

Can I ask where you saw the wines for under $10?

I purchased the day the promo was announced. That night they had already nearly doubled prices.

I'm just saying, for certain routes it's not going to be nice.

I read through all the terms and I still foresee problems with it, but I wish good luck to those that want to take the gamble. Hopefully they provide your flight details with enough time to book accommodation at the destination ;)

They have seven days to offer a flight. So hopefully.

Three 4 day weekends requested, all to NZ destinations ex BNE. Lets see what comes of it :)

So far I have $76 of Sauv to show for my trouble :)

I sent my application, express, on Sunday and they got it on Monday. Still haven't heard from them yet so hopefully tomorrow.

Has anyone else applied for this?

Something is getting a little fishy...

I called them up on 1800 290 738 and the lady, who spoke (genuinely) very poor English did not understand my issue. She was unperturbed that it's taken longer than seven days.

She then went on to tell me that the hard copies need to get sent to the UK which takes 3 to 5 days and only then will they process it.

I asked if she could find out if my application had been received but she said that will take 3 to 5 days. She suggested I email her at this strange looking email address: [email protected] . I'll give it a few days before I start to get angry/nervous.
