Not the most attractive AA offer, but an offer nonetheless...

Limited time offer: Up to 15,000 bonus miles
Longing for a ski trip or a cozy family getaway? Winter is around the corner, so rack up the extra AAdvantage[SUP]®[/SUP] miles you need for flights, vacation packages, upgrades and more. Now through November 15, you can earn up to 15,000 bonus miles when you buy miles.

Was it 60,000 miles + 20,000 miles last December?

Is it worth holding off until December for a similar promotion?

Last December it was 60000 + 30000 miles.

Fingers crossed its 60k +30k again this year, holding off on a J return to Japan next year! Excellent value especially from MEL with the domestic flight to SYD included (QF).

Hmmm, yeah, that's the only thing lurking in the back of my mind. Will be keeping my fingers crossed! Even if they're devalued by say half (that at the extreme end?), hopefully I won't end up behind a regluar revenue fare, points and SC aside of course, but I guess time will tell

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I believe ua have given some advance notice so you may have time to burn if it does happen

This could be useful for us - I have just seen that two J tickets are now available Mel - DFW, which will cost us an extra 25k miles each, at a cost of about $650 USD each. Hmm now to think whether to fly J or Y and save the $650 for other expenses in the US.

Edit - just realised it costs approx $300 to share the miles, so have done that! Now to book the J seats when the miles have been transferred to our accounts. Yay :)

I'd think it would have to be worth it for such a long flight, but that's just my take. You've still got room to buy more miles this year I take it?

I wouldn't hold off IMHO, the reason being I get the feeling that they are OK at AA this year for these kind of things, I am EXP and by now usually have a few things in my inbox that point to the fact that AA may need to attract more customers, AA customers last year got knocked around badly with delays and other issues, so there were a lot of sweeteners to keep the loyalty, the 60k plus 30k bonus was one of them.
