Morning members.

I'm wondering as i do not recall this because ive been traveling with virgin blue recently.

Does Qantas airways for domestic flights has a menu on board so i could buy things like qantas model plane/qantas hat/qantas keyring and so on ?

I know Virgin blue does this.. it has a menu front of you follow by th virgin magazine of the month and all i did to buy a hat from virgin blue was just to ask the attendant and pointed on the menu page i want this and she brings that hat to me as new and i paid her cash on hand.

So wonder if there is anything like this with qantas.

I am planing to buy qantas model plane that is jumbo planes.. I do collect this and allready have the british airways jumbo model plane/virgin blue model plane and the Ansett model plane but not the qantas jumbo model as yet. Its just a collectable. (wonder if there is a way to buy atlantic and qantas new airbus double decor.

Unless of course the best way to do this is to shop at melbourne airport and fine model planes on sale there because its quality then what on board would have ?

Im also curious to wonder if there is a website for free to check out what is the new Qantas magazine of the month is for MAY 2008 flight ?
You know the free magazine that you see on everys eat. But like to check the cover out online.

many thanks.

P.s i dought i would ever be aloud to request the attendant to visit the coughpit while in mid air. I actually was able to do this and film it and that was back in 2000 but not sure if its ever posible these days just to come up stairs and say hello and check out how they fly this great big plane heading to melbourne.

happy travel
:)

I see the model planes around in hsops at airports, but I don't believe that they are sold on board Qantas domestic flights. Unlike the LCC's, Qantas hasn't yet turned its flights into flying shops.

No you can't go to the flight deck theses days.

As for the inflight magazine, see here: Flying with Us - In the Air - Inflight Magazine - The Australian Way

thanks mark.

Well it would of had been fun to do abit of shopping while on mid air :) Virgin blue does it for years.. Qantas should have done so too.

I think i recall that in 2000 when heading to melb from bne they where giving free qantas cards and sometimes small qantas pins.. todays these things like the pin may be not on board because it is something that any terrorist would use.

I'm very collectable on mdoel planes actually. Just missing the qantas model plane and stand.

P.S is that the actual new monthly qantas on board magazine displaying small on the side of that website for MAY2008 ? i can't see it too well but just a climp of it is good enough. Unless the new inflight qantas magazines are not yet on all qantas boards until 1st of may.

Belive it or not i still have the ANSETT australia flight magazine in very new conditions keeping it in very good conditions looks like as new when i check it out now and then :) it is the early month 2002 inflight magazine of ansett.

Thanks for the link.
great search

I think all of us regular QF flyers are thankful they haven't stooped to the tackiness of flogging stubbie holders mid flight!!!

Hi there

Virgin Blue no longer sell merchandise onboard flights.

DJ also produces quite a nice Menu & Live2Air program guide.

Virgin Blue

Different versions are produced for B737 & Embraer aircraft.

Cheers

Thanks for that.

Actually is there a posible way to actually see some (highlights of the new inflight magazine of qantas for MAY 2008? im flying 2nd of may so maybe they might still have the old magazines of april there currently.

Not sure.

Would be good to see the cover.. Qantas website shows one but its very dificult to see it to identified if its for may2008.
:)

eBay can be a good place to purchase model aircraft. Just be aware that they come in varying quality and accuracy. Corgi models are cheap (often less than $10), while Herpa Wings and Dragon Wings models are more expensive (generally over $30 and some over $50). But it depends how accurate you want the model and livery to be. These are generally 1:400 or 1:500 scale models.

Then there are the plastic models that come in 1:200 or 1:250 or other larger scales. These generally cost between $20 and $50 depending on how rare it is and how much demand there is for it.

Then there are the resin models that are generally large scale (1:100 - 1:250) and weigh a bit heavier than plastic models.

And the most expensive are the hand painted, carved wooden models. These can go for several hundred dollars.

A380 and even B787 models in QF colours are available.

Qants does sell some model aircraft as part of their in-flight duty free range, but that is only available on international flights.

Thanks matie.
I dont deal ebay anymore but thats the last resort when i brought model planes from there.

I recall 2002 at the domestic sydney airport that there was a shop there and they where saleing quality model planes of qantas.. greater and bigger. I wonder if melbourne airport would have this sorts of shop as i would look around or if posible alternative fine a shop in the CBD where they sale dvds to model planes and large posters.. Was hopeing to fine atlantic double decor airbus plane and qantas the same since it is the new type of planes to be seen soon.

Im sure there is a shop out there in the city. I now i can do this by buying it online but since im going there to melbourne i would be shopping around.

I even have the virginblue australia dvd. Its not a document but its more like fliming around in and the coughpit and back and cities of australia on different 737's

So no one can hunt down the new magazine of qantas for may2008 ? Im traveling 2nd of may so even saying this maybe they wont even have the new inflight free qantas magazine and most prob they still have the april version seating around on all seats.

I actually take it since its free.

They should have the May issue by the time you fly, don't worry. :)

Especially with the route you'll be flying, the plane you'll get on will be flown several times the day before and possibly even earlier that day, depending on your flight schedule.

If they really haven't got it on the plane, when you land, pop up to the Qantas Club and ask for one. You shouldn't have trouble getting one.

Oh good. I do expect the new MAY2008 qantas inglight magazine. you know it takes 2hours and 25minutes to get there. But strangely it takes 2h and 5min back to brisbane which i dont understand since its indicating it on the time frame.

Aniays ill be taking the magazine with me its then a collectable value.

Aniways its all good :) and thanks for that, Gotta read soemthing rathr then stearing the blue old graphical seats.
