Just randomly checked QF flights I have booked months ago under Business Sale to find the exact same flights / class are now $2100 cheaper!

Any strategy I can use to refund/credit the difference? Business sale has a $400pp change fee / $600pp cancellation fee (2 tickets purchased)

Which flights/class have you found this on, if it's OK to ask? This is a massive difference in price.

I'm not an expert at this but i *think* you want to get a refund in cash - not a credit or anything. I've heard credits can come with restrictions like needing to buy a higher priced fare? Or perhaps that's only domestic.

Either way, if you call Qantas and tell them you'd like to switch to the lower fare they can probably advise you the easiest way to achieve what you want.

You are correct @MEL_Traveller . As a credit voucher, needs to the same fare class and price or higher. Cash refunds from QF can take quite some time from the experience of others I hear second hand. Months in some cases. Averages 2 to 3 weeks I think.

Other option for @Mrmaxwell , if they plan on travelling on Qf again in the next few months, depending on when the original ticket was purchased. A credit voucher has 1 year validity, based on the original purchase date, not the day the voucher was created. So, knowing that you could cancel to a voucher for later use, then purchase the current sale tickets for immediate use.

Realise that may not be totally convenient .

Thanks boca. But again with the credit voucher it would need to be used by the OP for a business class fare or higher, and at a higher price than the current business class sale purchased? A potential challenge?

Cancel the tickets for full refund (and cop the $600 cancel fee). Then book 2 new tickets.

Thanks for the input...I've been flat out unable to reply but got some good info here.

I cancelled for a refund and purchased at the reduced price. The refund came through after only a few days (amazing as my last QF refund took 2 months!). Saved over a $1000 even with cancellation fees.
