Business class ticket - lounge access for guest

I can't see an answer to this on the Virgin website
I have a J class redemption out of Syd-Mel and wondering if I can bring a guest in to the lounge? I have no status.
Couldn't find an answer in this thread either. Many thanks

I don't know the rules but I have been allowed to do this in a similar situation.

I think they'll work with you if it is only 1 guest and you are both well dressed.

On the other hand if there are 4 screaming kids (with runny noses etc) involved then I wouldn't be so sure.

Officially the answer is no

Business class guests are not entitled to any guest allowance, unless travelling companions (which include children aged two or over) are also booked on a business class ticket. Infants under two years old are exempt.

As a work-around, as long as your guest is indeed flying VA, you could fork out $65 for such guest to come with.... All depending on how valuable you believe it would having you both together. $65 is stretching it IMO for value for money, unless you're getting to the lounge early.

Non-Members (non-Velocity and non-Virgin Australia Lounge members) travelling with Virgin Australia can purchase Single Entry to the lounge on the day of travel with a valid Virgin Australia boarding pass for $65. Payable at lounge reception by credit card only and can only be used a maximum of 2 hours before departure time. Available for domestic lounges only and does not include partner or international lounges. Subject to space availability.

Let's say $5 for the toasted sandwich and $60 for the 10 beers. Just about break even but there is a good chance of being denied boarding as well.

Yeah. $65 is just not good value. You would get far better food out in the terminal.

Even if you valued the wifi and relative quiet/place to sit $65 is still a stretch.

I would perhaps consider paying the coin if I was subjected to a delayed departing flight at Gold Coast Airport on a rainy day..

Value for money indeed, not really. I wouldn't do so, but all depends on what the needs/wants are of the people, all being different!

I remember paying $35/$40 for one-off Lounge Access back in the DJ days when my flying was once every 2 or 3 months. At the time, it did the job for me, even if I just had my few glasses of soft drink & sandwich
