Hi,

I'm in process of booking business reward seats for myself and GF using QFF.
Available flight to Sao Paulo from Sydney at the moment is on QF27 (747-400ER) to SCL and then LAN to GRU which suits us.

However return flight between Santiago and Sydney is only available on LAN dreamliner 787 which stops in Auckland. Reading that LAN business is not as good as QF, but flying much newer plane makes me undecided if I should just book it or wait if QF flight becomes available.

Thanks f

The 787 benefits from lower cabin pressuremeaning a much more pleasant flight. The 787 also has fully flat beds - something you won't always find on Qantas' 747s with drooping (and now 'arched') skybed II seats.

I would probably choose LATAM on the way back for the (arguably) better hard product and much lower charges! Although, you do get the extra stop in Auckland. It's also a night flight rather than a looong day flight (which QF28 is) which may suit better if you're in business class.

For an aware flight redemption, I would be taking whatever is available and locking it in. Getting two business class redemptions on the same flight trans-Pacific is a tough ask at the best of times. I would not take the risk waiting to see if QF seats open up.
