Is there an accurate way to find out exactly what type of Business Class seats are on a particular 777-300ER route?

The Emirates website is vague, and Seatguru is never up to date. Googling has not helped.

I want to avoid recliner seats, and get only fully flat beds between Brisbane and Europe. Flights such as EK142 or EK432 are 777-300ER.

Is there a site that gives up to date accurate layout/seat map?

Thanks

All the 777-300s have lie-flat seats in J. As far as I am aware it is only a few of the 777-200s that have the old 'deeply reclining' seats. The EK website gives seating diagrams and on the 777-300 used on the DXB - BNE route it is 2-3-2. There is of course the A380 option which is probably more comfortable - all seats have direct aisle access, goes direct and has the bar to occupy a few of the 14 hours...

Well there is a difference between lie-flat (even if angled) and deeply reclining! The thread you refer to seems to have quite different opinions. I manage to sleep about the same on both the A380 and 777. I would cettainly take the 380 between BNE and DXB. Not only is it a quieter plane (with a bar:)) but the flight times work much better - a 13+ hour direct flight leaving around 8.30pm is much better than 2 flights of around 7 hours leaving at 2.30 am. I will be taking the A380 from BNE to DXB in around 3 weeks and then again in early December...
Thanks for your NZ thoughts - I will get there on my second trip but only for a couple of days. EK make that easy as it is the same price a straight LHR-BNE return.
Enjoy your trip to Europe.

Hi, I agree with pomkiwi that the A380 is a better bet assuming that you dont want a leg stretch on the ground. I havent seen the recliner seats for some time in 777-300ERs and they all seem to have the semi-capsule like almost lie flat seats. Not quite truly lie flat but damn near it.
In terms of booking seats on an A380 there are a few points to bear in mind as not all seats give the same experience.
I think its generally better to get ones nearer the front of business as there is less traffic past you going back and forth to the bar and the loos which are just past the hallowed horse-shoe. Absolutely avoid those anywhere near the bar - ie the last 4 rows +.
There are differences between the two rows on the window side. The seats nearest the windows are more private and protected from the aisle so no unwanted attention or bumping, and have better side bins as well as an easy view out the windows . Importantly they also have around 4-5 inches extra legroom due to the design of the cabin which is nice if you are 6 feet + ( a small distance but noticeable). The others window seats lack these to a degree and conversation is impossible with any other passenger while seated.. Secondly, if you are in the middle two rows and are travelling with someone ensure that the seats are immediately adjacent and not the ones separated by about 1 metre which make conversation very difficult. These rows alternate and are obvious on the seat map when booking tickets. The differences in the window seats are not, just take my word for it.
So if you are on your own go for an 'absolute window' seat up to around row 12. Try not to notice the sound of Dom Perignon champagne corks flying in first. If travelling with someone make sure the seats are of the close together variety. Emirates have kind of made travelling in business much more isolating due to the seat configurations with only every second middle row allowing easy conversation. That said, the bar is good and by far the best place for good chat and booze. Does make you feel kind of special.
Hope this is helpful to you and other AFFs.

Most people seem to find the "lie flat" as uncomfortable as I do. Only the "flat bed" ie 180 degree flat, gives comfort for a long trip.

We've booked 11E & F both ways - we travelled further back last year, and the bar was full of noisy bogans a lot of the time. ;)

IMHO, the J seats in the EK 77W are some of the worst long haul J seats in the market. Name a decent airline and they have better J long haul seats. The seat slope is similar to the QF 332/333 Skybeds and the EK seats feel narrower as well.

and the EK seats feel narrower as well.
Well they have to be to accommodate the three-in-the-middle that EK has on the 777. Many airlines only have 2-2-2 (or less) on their 777's. If you don't like it, don't fly EK. That's my philosophy.

As a side note, I never have any problems sleeping in J class on an EK 777. Perhaps the copious quantities of Moet has something to do with it (much preferred to Veuve in my case).

I really think the comfort of angled lie-flat seats has something to do with body shape, height and favorite sleeping position. AA 777 seats are like torture beds to me, but for some reason I sleep better on EK 777 than on QF MKI seats.

I agree with the body shape/height theory. For my wife, 165cm and 48kg, the coughpy slippery slides are fine. For me, 182cm, 88kg, and 68 yo, they are a form of torment that the Tower of London should proudly display, alongside The Rack.

Not J seats but same metal learned Emirates Experts - F on 777-300ER vv F on 380 - same? Similar? Totally diff? Comparable?

Essentially the same IMO. Some opinions are that the suites feel more private on the 777 as the doors are higher relative to the cabin - I've never felt exposed on either plane. Cabin on the 777 is smaller (8 vs 14 seats) but somehow I feel a full cabin on the 777 feels busier than on the A380. I have found that differences between crew have had more effect on experience than differences between aircraft.

Have you found a consistent difference between crews on the A380 v the 777? Or is it more a general statement that the crew maketh the flight experience? Flying F from Rome to Melbourne in a couple of months. A380 from FCO-DXB-SIN but 777 from SIN-MEL.

Value your thoughts.

It's a general statement. I have had excellent experiences with crew on both the A380 and 777, also occasions when the experience has been less than I had hoped for. I think that is inevitable the more flights one takes. The 777 sectors have tended to be <6 hours and the A380 longer. This can make things seem rushed on the 777 if the cabin is full and flight time short - particularly on trans-tasman routes. On the ther hand 2 pax in F on a 777 between SYD and AKL gives as much personal attention as you could want!

Thanks pomkiwi,

Really appreciate your response and insights. 30 hours plus in total (including layovers) spread across three sectors, so will be interesting to see how the experience and service differs on each of the three legs.

Business Class seating on 777-300er

Hi All

I am soon to be a first time Emirates traveller and would appreciate any advice from somone more experienced.

I am booked to travel SYDBKk and have seats 7AB

and also booked to travel KULMEL seats 8JK

by looking at the information on seat guru and trip advisor it looks like there are two versions of this aircraft one with. No window at 7A and one with a window at 7A. Is there any way to check which version I am booked on.

I like the idea of the smaller cabin with only two rows 6-7 as well

any thoughts would be appreciated as don't want to make the mistake to choosing the wrong seats if that is possible.

thank you in advance

Re: Business Class seating on 777-300er

On 77w with EK in J I personally don't like the bulk head rows as the TV screens are higher on the bulkheads and not as enjoyable.

I also hate/avoid the mini cabin of rows 6 & 7 because I am a K seat person, and the curve in of the aircraft so far forward impacts your head room.

So my favorite is 9K, but that is me personally.

Re: Business Class seating on 777-300er

6 and 7 also get noisy, you can't escape the bassinet positions, and the galley behind gets noisy too.
