I am flying solo with my 8 month old next month, ADL-CBR, on a Sunday afternoon. We will be traveling in business class and I am trying to work out the best seat for us (and others) on the Virgin e90 plane.

My initial thought is seat 2D, hoping no one sits next to us, so we have a spare seat. However I'm not sure if this is risky and someone will get annoyed with us!! I don't think there will be any benefit us sitting in the front row and I imagine that is more popular in any case? So my other thought is maybe 2A.

I have never been on this plane and never flown with my baby so any advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated!!

Is an E90 a Embraer 190 and if yes, isnt it a 1-2 business class seat configuration?

Yes that's correct - I will just have my son on my lap so I can't decide whether it's best to go the 1 seat alone or 2 seats (hoping no one books the seat next to me and he can sit there when I am eating etc).

I've had the experience with my 2 yo daughter over 20 trips now. IMO get a window seat and probably row 1. Always "dropped" something while having bub on the lap. So with the bulkhead in the way - you wouldn't lose anything in front of you. Plus the little one loves licking, sorry looking out of the window on take off/landing. VA staff are awesome looking after little ones and travelling up front you will get a helping hand. Handy to have seat blocked/vacant next to you. But no guarantees there. Go 1F.

Have done this 40 plus times, with our little boy who is now 3.5.
If travelling solo with bub would always select 1A as is great for them if they want to stand up a waddle about a bit without effecting anyone.
You can always as at check in and if 2 seats vacant together swap then.
The E190 is also better on there ears so thats a bonus.

Thank you both so much! Great to hear from those that have plenty of experience flying with youngens.

Unless parliament is sitting its very unlikely the J cabin wilk be full.

Adding to the chorus of go for row 1. The extra space without the seat in front is helpful with bub on lap.

I do fly a bit in J on the E-Jet and I'd choose 2F if your baby can stand (window and fuselage to lean against for support) but still giving you room to stretch out. If bub cannot stand, then either of 2A or 2D for aisle access to get to loo if needed. Benefit of D or F is you may get a shadow. Even with recline of row 1, there is still good space in row 2 (and bub can always be let loose with hair in front if recline is annoying ;)). Downside of 2F is getting easy access to toilet if there is someone in 2D.
