How many points in each program? You could go to HKG and back in QF First for 180k + taxes. This will get you a massage at the SYD QF F lounge and HKG CX F lounge if that's the aim.
Sadly you won't get a massage inflight unless you have an extra 180k laying around to BYO masseuse.
I will shortly have 200k in Qantas and a bit over 100k in Velocity but by next year both should be in the hundreds of thousands.

What about Melbourne though? Do first get massages here?

True, MEL-SIN in F is a possibility for the same points (180k) but probably 2-3x taxes vs SYD-HKG. Sad excuse for an F lounge on your return flight from SIN though (definitely no massage!)

Probably cheaper and easier just to get a massage somewhere closer to home - depending on where you go you may be able to claim on your health fund as well!!!

If you're flying F then they'll call you the day before to make an appointment.
Otherwise, you ask when you enter and hope there is a spare appointment available.

Look like if I want my Massage perks I will have to fly Economy with Air Malta!

Thai Airways offers a very generous 30 minute massage to all departing business class passengers from BKK. Virgin Atlantic and BA are the other majors offering complimentary spa treatments for business class, although only 15 minutes (but they're quite good). Oman Air was offering massages last year, but dunno if they still do in the new terminal.
In most cases the spa treatments are just a bit of fun and fill in some time. Rarely these days are they much good for relaxation, even the QF F ones are so short it's hard to get 'relaxed'. The Elemis facials (BA) though are good.

Thankfully there's no danger of that in the Thai lounges. For business class it's just a neck and shoulder or foot massage. On a good day it's ok (vaguely strong enough to do some good), on a bad day it has about as much pressure as a feather.
I had the neck and shoulder massage with Thai Airways, twice in the past 2 months.
The first time in July it was painful for a few days afterwards as I think the lady used too much strength on my muscles. The second time last month was excellent.
Was pleasantly surprised that their "neck and shoulder" massage actually extended to the scalp, both arms and down to the mid-back as well, on both occasions.

Why take expensive flight just to get “free” massage? Massage is easy to get and very inexpensive from local massage shop, including some in airport terminal.
If you are paying for the flight I agree but if you have lots of free frequent flyer points the normally expensive business class is definitely the more comfortable way to go
Having made that decision to go to say Europe business class the question becomes - which airline will get me there and back safely and give me the most perks eg chauffeur service, massages etc.

With health fund rebates my last three massages cost $6.60, $7.72 and $15, so for me more interested in the best perks than the most perks. Not that I disagree with perks, just that I dont see this as a very valuable one (though I did love the Thai F massage).

Which massage places at Tullamarine are rebateable? Normally the providers need to be registered.

The irony is that because of their popularity massage spots can be hard to come by, and the resulting loss of not getting one probably has more of a negative impact than flying an airline that doesn't offer one at all.
