Bulkhead seats on the A380

A380 seat map - bulkheads

Hi AFFers,

I'm just looking at the seat map on seatguru for the Qantas A380 that flies Mel > lax - some of the bulkheads but not all specify they have bassinets - can anyone tell me whether the ones that say "standard bulkhead seats" have bassinets or no?

I'm flying LAX - SYD shortly and on Qantas.com if trying to choose a seat it shows those rows with having a Bassinet.
AS they are the only bluckheads in economy then they have bassinets.

The only economy bulkhead seats without bassinets are in row 66 (D/E/F/G). All others¹ have bassinets.

If travelling solo and the the bassinet is not being used these are almost as good as exits/80A/80K/79D for this 183cm PAX.

¹ 50A/B/C, 51H/J/K, 52D/E/F/G & 81D/E/F/G (all have bassinets).

Row 50 is showing as available on our flights Mel-Lax and return - is it worth the risk of being moved? Or of getting stuck next to a screaming baby?

There are two of us travelling in early December...

We experienced the joys of 50B/C SIN-LHR with baby (mum in 50A) and LHR-SIN without baby (150cm Singapore resident lady in 50A).

The former was Ok; well behaved child, but that can go "pear shaped" on any given day.

The latter was great.

I think the front row bassinet may be the last one allocated unless a WP needs one.

For two people travelling together it is a risk, but the reward is high too.

One thing to note that if the bassinet is set up, then it's quite difficult for 50A/B PAX to get out.

Thanks serfty, I guess I'll just have to weight it up... I'm leaning towards going for it.

It is a question that I am considering at the moment too! It has just ticked over T-80 for an upcoming A380 flight and 50A/B/C are all free. (In fact, A/B/C are all free in rows 50-53.)

Does the fact that all of 50A/B/C are available at the moment indicate that the bassinet is unlikely to be needed (or am I lulling myself into a false hope!)? If I do take two of these three seats and the bassinet is needed by an infant travelling with two (or more) adults, I guess I would risk being moved to a potentially horrible seat? Or if an infant travelling with a single adult needs that bassinet, I would be stuck rather close to the infant (and have movement issues if in 50A/B).

I do wonder whether it is worth the risk for a bit of extra bulhead leg room.

The risk with row 50 is that you will keep row 50 if the config changes. It is a normal row 3 rows behind the bulkhead in that case.
