Does anyone know whether Jetstar is classed as part of qantas for redeeming BA Miles?

Have some I want to burn

Cheers

Towards the bottom of http://www.jetstar.com/frequentFlyer/ , there is a sentence that says Qantas Frequent Flyers can use points to take award flights.

However, I just checked the OneWorld site, and it doesn't mention JQ anywhere, so you probably can't use BA points.

I don't think that BA allows redemption on JQ. Qf being a partner to JQ doesnt imply that BA is

Jetstar is not part of OW (wonder how much pressure the other OW airlines are putting on QF to change this?). So to use BA miles on JQ, it would need to be a non-alliance partner. AFAIK it is not.

And that is a good thing. Given all the odd FFP partners (eg QFF has US and SQ has DL), if airline1 being a partner of airline2 and airline2 a partner of airline3 meant airline1 was a partner of airline3, then pretty much all major airlines would be in partnership with each other.

That would be a good thing. Fly any airline, credit your miles anywhere else.

Well I guess we were all wrong. Just rang BA customer service in the UK. They only show availability on JQ direct to Cairns at 07.00 (9 seats) and nothing on QF leaving 3 hours later (travel dates being 9/4 return 16/4). :?

I was in Qantas.com yesterday searching for an award booking with the same dates and they show plenty of seat availability on both flights. Very strange. Although I guess it is a way that Qantas can maintain availability for their OW partners on shared routes without giving up their precious seats on their own flights (so they can use them for award bookings or standard inventory to sell....)

Was that availability under JQ flight number or the QF flight number on JQ operated (which IIRC is in 5000s range and is specifically there for awards)?

Bingo! Kiwi Flyer, also more than that:

I think those QF5???? flight numbers relate to some purchased fares as well (like an Oz Pass). I'd dig up more information if I could but the QFF site seems to be down.
