Was in The Lounge BNE this morning shortly after 5am and let me tell you, that grouting is spanky!
I hadn't read this thread till I had been and gone from The Lounge, and actually thought to myself how good the floor looked.
I have officially joined the TSAS - though I am a huge fan of tomato but was stilly yummy.
Got to say though, having the option of Chai was brilliant. Unfortunately it wasn't very well made - more water than milk and quite weak but it was still better than no Chai at all. My favourite thing, other than how good the floor looked was the little yogurt and muesli tubs. Noms!
Thankyou very much to VirginAustralia for organising.

May not be entirely truthful re noticing grouting.

Seriously? Were the sandwiches imported when the AUD was down?
Fair Dinkum, $6.20 for Chicke cheese and mayo toasted x2 =$12.40
2 x flat whites at $4.90 = 9.80
Total $22.20
AUD is week, but thats pretty standard airport, indeed cafe pricing!
Bottom line, Im happy the way they looked after me, and thats all that matters to me.

The OP was given $48 in vouchers. And presumably another $48 because they had a companion...

This is excellent customer service. I've had "recovery" from Qantas which gave me a whole $15 voucher towards food in BNE. Would barely get you a toasted sandwich and a coffee. Let alone the time I was given a "recovery" from a flight which didn't have catering loaded ... and arrived after the majority of food places had shut.

I think beer is about $9 in the terminal (haven't priced it recently). So yes, that's probably 4 beers and something to eat. At breakfast, you'd really be stretching it to find a use for $48 / person.

Congrats DJ on looking after your guests.

A couple years ago in ZQN flying as a QP NB I received a $50 voucher for airport food, which actually allowed me to buy much more than I could eat/drink. Shared it with friends ultimately.

In the The Lounge at the moment and echo the comments that it is spanky! Maybe not my choice of words though :)

Nice place to be however perhaps they could make sure that a staff member is attending the bar service area at all times.
