Bugger. They grouted the tiles last night apparantly and its still wet. Arrived at 7am and it was all roped off. Very apologetic staff, very professional response, got $48 worth of vouchers to use anywhere in terminal or on aircraft. Said i have a guest and was handed another 2 vouchers Missed the peace and quiet of the lounge though. Forgot how noisy it was out here :(

Damn you iphone and fat fingers. Sent from my iphone and AFF app :))

Very professionally handled. $48 in BNE will buy you more than a toasted sandwich (without tomato or mustard or tomato relish;) ) and a barista coffee.

Seems strange they are still grouting tiles. Thought that would have been arranged before they opened the new lounge (and didn't notice a lack of grout when I attended soon after opening).

Any idea when it will be back up? I was meant to be sampling the BNE lounge this afternoon.

Damnit. Nearly went in when i arrived yesterday to check it out. Will be a bugger if i miss it completely.

Maybe there was a mis-grouting or a design anomaly which required rectification ...

2 x toasted sangers 2x cappucinos $22. Use the rest on aircraft. Would much rather the peace of the lounge though. Just said to my travel companion first time in 10 years i have sat out here. :(
Sucks out here

Agree mal re the grouting should have been done and i saw nothing that looked unfinished when i passed through on Tuesday. Never mind its all good

Well the vouchers won't get you wireless or a shower, and could disappear quite quickly when alcohol is factored in.

Nevertheless, despite the scheduling mishap it is good form for VA to offer these compensatory tokens.

Are the vouchers tied to a flight or a particular day?

Was sent via Aust Freq Fly app, but not from an iPhone.

We always had planned to give the floors a good clean post-opening, and as there has been higher foot traffic through our new BNE Lounge than first thought, it was certainly warranted.
Unfortunate that it wasn't able to dry in time for this mornings guests, so our apologies for that.
Glad to see the team was still able to look after you.

Have been told that it will be re-opened mid-afternoon.

Thankfully these services were not required and I do see your point, and at 7am, no booze would have been required nor served at the lounge anyway. Wireless, well, yeah that was a real bummer, as I did have some work to do and it made things difficult. As an update, also got full PE upgrade at the gate, so they are looking after their Golds, also the usual paper, water before takeoff and personal greeting.

I bet the lounge wireless was still working if the free Optus WIFI is not, and the showers are free as well, located next door to the lounge :D. BYO towel unless you want to use paper towels.

Well, the news is at it isn't opening at all today. There goes my chance to try the new BNE lounge. Bummer.

An update - that the BNE Lounge will remain closed for the remainder of the day.

Apologies for the disruption and to those that were expecting to be able to use it (and try for the first time 777!)
If you were to use the Lounge today, please see the Lounge Angels who are currently located outside the front door for assistance.

The Lounge will be open from 0500 tomorrow.

I commented earlier in the week how discusting the floor was. My guess is it needed a complete stripping and resealing. Hopefully after this pedicure, it retains a slightly more dignified appearance for a period considerably longer than 2 weeks. Hopefully a bain-marie has been added too!

Nice work swanning_it - ask (or comment), and it happens!

Luckily for me I flew QF this morning BNE/SYD. QF club was great!

What part, the 30 person queue for barista coffee that stops at 9, or the wireless internet at 1992 speeds when you finally log on :D.

PS. Maybe weekend work would be better in the future!

.
Not everyone cares about coffee or wireless internet.

The OP was given $48 in vouchers. And presumably another $48 because they had a companion...

This is excellent customer service. I've had "recovery" from Qantas which gave me a whole $15 voucher towards food in BNE. Would barely get you a toasted sandwich and a coffee. Let alone the time I was given a "recovery" from a flight which didn't have catering loaded ... and arrived after the majority of food places had shut.

I think beer is about $9 in the terminal (haven't priced it recently). So yes, that's probably 4 beers and something to eat. At breakfast, you'd really be stretching it to find a use for $48 / person.

Congrats DJ on looking after your guests.
