Hi all
My parents arriving into BNE on 20 Dec on EK late at night. Can anyone suggest a hotel for them to stay at close to the airport? There will be 3 adults + 1x2 1/2 year old and plenty of bags.
They fly out around 1:30PM the next day to SYD (there might be a little surprise for them at BNE ;)).
They are looking for reasonably priced accommodation that they can get to easily.
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers
Simon

Airport Train stops at 9PM or earlier, not much use to arrivals after 8.30 onwards!

Formula One is just above park bench class IMHO, at Hamilton just down the road there are quite a few decent hotel/motels but not all have 24 hr reception or room service.

Quest Ascot is similar to the quality hotel in price but just around the corner from some very good cafe's that do great breakfasts etc or a supermarket if you get an apartment, however its not a 24 hour front desk.

Riverview Hotel in Hamilton is probably the closest "luxury" hotel.

Not quite airport, but Springwood Towers has apartment style rooms, bar open to late, brekky at the hotel, or maccas nearby. Probably about $40 by taxi.

Probably about $60 by taxi, and a 40-50 min journey each way. It's a good hotel, but I wouldn't consider it suitable for an airport overnighter.

As for a general airport hotel, can't recommend any. There are no real standouts around the Brisbane Airport. There is one being built at the moment, but that won't be completed for a while. Not even sure if any of the hotels/motels have a shuttle bus.

Most of them are located around Hamilton, which is an ok area with lots of coffee shops, restaurants etc, but pretty quiet where the hotel/motels are and a decent walk to anything good.

I'd probably recommend a hotel in the CBD. It's around a 20-30 min ($30-40 by taxi) journey by taxi each way, but the hotels are much nicer (budget/time permitting of course!)

Actually this is the one that surprised me the most. The last airtrain departs from the domestic airport at 19:59 and the international airport at 20:02.

It was only running until 7:30pm up until a few months ago, the 8pm departure is fairly new... Then again, the Coachtrans shuttle bus Coachtrans Australia does claim to meet all scheduled flights, and I believe will drop people off at 'Airport hotels' (as well as the CBD etc) which is another option.

It appears to run every half an hour until 23:10 with the last departure at 23:55. At $12 for a one-way trip it should be much better option than a taxi depending on the number of travellers.

Well a further update - after discussing this with my parents whilst in Cyprus with my father adamant that he wanted a short cab ride but then providing my mother the options of staying on a "park bench" or me booking a night at a hilton using my points my mother indicated that they could survive an extra 15 minute cab ride ;)

So now checking on line the Hilton Brisbane (Cat 3) is requiring me to call the diamond line whereas the Bisbane COnrad is offering 30K points/night (so 60K for two rooms I assume) I was wondering how nice the Conrad is and if it was a major detour compared to teh Hilton.

I know it's a very late night and a fairly early departure but if I can give my mum a 10 min "WOW" factor it's worth a fair amount of HHonors points to me (I have 300K and no plans to burn them next year).

So any thoughts on the BNE Conrad?
