HI All

Am flying on QF127 to Hong Kong 1 August.

I purchased J fare some time ago and upgraded to points to F which was successful about 5 days out (as a WP). Was going to be a solo trip but my partner last minute booked on this flight also (Silver QFF) yesterday within the 24 hours pre departure a J fare to join me as it looks itll be a much longer stay than expected.

Anyway, we couldnt put an upgrade request on as within 24 hours. What we are curious about is, the plane is pretty empty, F8 J9 just 8 hours before departure, and we were wondering how lenient on board can be? Would they let my partner join for dessert / a drink or is that pushing the rules / boundaries? Is that what the J Lounge upstairs should be used for?

Also, is it ever allowed to say have her seated in F for landing so we can de-board and be together to get off the plane?

Not trying to get free stuff that isnt paid for, or wouldnt want to disturb other passengers, so curious on your thoughts.

just read your thread...didnt leave much time for people to respond ... posting about 2am about a flight that departs/departed around 10am the same day!! anyway i WOULD HAVE gone straight to the top...ask the CSM(CustomerServiceManager) as soon as possible, (maybe during the CSM 'meet n greet' with you) ... many factors can influence the outcome on any particular flight ... so accept the CSMs decision graciously....either way..and (hope you) enjoy your trip :)

Just saw this too :(

I would be waiting until the flight has commenced and the crew are more relaxed and/or when the CSM comes around to chat with you.

You will likely be allowed to have the person down for a drink with you, I have done this even when F was 100% full

Maybe for landing too, but all you can do is ask

Let us know how it went :)

I'd say that they would be reluctant for them to stay during landing if only for safety purposes in that every one is meant to be in their allocated seat for landing. A drink shouldn't be an issue but anything more than that is generally a no. You could always try for an at check in upgrade

Hi all! yes was very last minute haha!

Anyway, great CSM and crew, A380 crews i love ! Anyway, we were allowed to have some canapes and champagne together and she was bought down for landing (F was prob 70% full so a few empty suites) which made disembarking real good to be first through customs! :)

Its these little things that make me fly Qantas, but i am always unsure if comments of satisfaction should be passed on to qantas about these situations (as could it get the crew in trouble doing that?).

You don't need to be specific, just that they went above and beyond.

Hiya Ben174,
That was lovely of the crew to look after you guys like that. I would definitely leave feedback, I would say the crew do get comments passed on. If it was me it would be nice to receive a thank you from a customer I
looked after on my flight.

This has been my experience as well. Was travelling in F with a friend in Y and, whilst they missed out on any canapes or beverages, they were brought up (with their carry-on) for landing.
