My QC2 headphones that I bought in 06 and have served me faithfully globally for well over a million miles are crackling and the ear cover part needs replacement.

Any experience or advice here? Worth doing or purchase replacement? Bose after sales experiences?

I am not sure why we pay $499 for the QC15 and the yanks $299! That scam should be revealed..

Appreciate any advice

Yes Spruce there are lots of things we pay well over the odds for which is why I'm going to get a US parcel forwarding address ASAP!
Sorry don't know anything about Bose headphones I have some cheap Sony's which work like a dream

My Sony ones that I've had since '05 just died too - will be getting a pair of QC15's in the US at the end of the year - but I do like the idea of the forwarding address!

Luckily i have with some friends on the east coast and will be using it from now on!

Actually I should have thought about using friends to send stuff - I know people in both Seattle & the USVI so should use them for my US mail orders!

There are companies now that do shipping to Oz too, so you can shop at things like Macys online.

You've got some explaining to do ;) I showed this to my wife and she was straight on line and the shipping section wouldn't send outside of the US. Me - :D, Wife -

Yes I have experience - took broken QC2's to Bose in Sydney - they offerred replacements at 50% off - give them a call.

Lol - it was the site Princess Fiona just posted - I couldn't remember what it was called, but that means I can't take the blame if your wife finds out! It was on trashy TV the other week and they mentioned it included shipping from Macys. You order and ship to these guys, then they forward it on I believe.

Be sure to read reviews on them.

We have In Laws living on the East Coast so free handling for us!! :)

I've used these re-shipping services before, specifically V-Post Asia, which is operated by Singapore Post. I can't fault them, very fast re-ship, in mint condition, and no issues whatsoever.

Some of the sites can have high re-shipping fees, specially for large packages. If you find one which is operated by a good postal services company, you'll be in good hands.

I also had a long lasting pair of QC2's and the ear cushions wore out. I bought a replacement set when I was in HK and happened to see a Bose shop (Times Square mall). Cost me about $A20-30 from memory. Not sure if they're available in Oz. Cushions just snap in.

Unfortunately about a year later, my QC2's broke. Took them in to Bose Sydney (Newington). They told me they were irrepairable and like dragonman experienced, offered me a 1/2 price set of QC15's. Very pleased with these.

thats awesome to know re-bose shop 50% off, ive had my qc2's for years and when i rang Bose in melbourne they told me not repairable and pretty much well tough luck

i impulse bought a pair of the sony mdr-500's when i was in the US in Septemeber, which have been great, but sitting next to someone on a flight recently we swapped for a couple of minutes with his qc-15's and instantly regretted the sonys, even though the sonys are rechargeable...

im in Sydney this weekend will have to drop into this Bose store! :D

I don't think it's worth repairing a pair of QC2s when you can get QC15s (which are FAR superior) for $299 in the states. Just use a US buying service like PriceUSA and you can buy them for about a $15 fee and the cost of shipping. I am planning to do this myself :)

ill let you know how i go this weekend, but if you can essentially trade in damaged qc2's at that store in sydney and get qc15's for 50% off ie $250, that will be cheaper, faster and with australian warranty etc
