What cheeses me off

Couldn't find the "what cheeses me off "thread.
But, late last night I was trying to clean up my email boxes and blocking spam folders.

I was then deleting some emails as Mr Ellen10 says I hold on to too many. So I went into my deleted folder and then instead of cleaning it out, I blocked senders for a big block of emails.
So now I don't get any emails from my regular senders, including AFF.

So I googled how to unblock. My mail in hotmail/outlook. So I have just unblocked those that I can deem legit (there is a lot of cough in there). It took me over an hour to copy and paste them into safe senders.

I even blocked Mr Ellen10's emails :D I did unblock him 🤭

So now I guess I wait and see if they come back. I did get Mr Ellen10 to send me an email and it did come through.
Hopefully those emails I did come to get come back.

What a mess I created!

MEL Int arrivals yesterday. I've often found it a much better experience than SYD but yesterday was my worst arrivals experience since 1976 into MCT! Arrived on QF38 and the corridors were packed, the queues for machines were 50-60 deep. I took a punt and skipped them, bought some duty free and went for the 4 machines to the left of immigration gates (except 1 was not working). Queues 50 deep. With approx 1 minute per person to process you get the idea.
Once through immi and bag collected, customs queues were approx 200m long - incredibly slow. All up a really poor arrivals experience with plenty that can be done to improve pax flow.
If I compare and contrast MEL (or SYD) to YVR where they have redesigned the flow into a large hall filled with immigration machines - I've never been more than second in the queue. Even GVA, with the dreaded first time EES, only took 5 mins.

Were you on Greg Norman’s flight?!

Be careful what you ask or you might get what you ask.

I sent Trip.com another email.

You should be compensating me.

You should be apologising for poor service.

Not very demanding right?

So I have received another email with several apologies and 500 Trip coins compensation which is worth around USD5.

Obviously someone with my sense of humour in Customer service. LOL.

When you provide a very detailed address for a parcel delivery, and they tell you it has been delivered, but post "proof of delivery" photos that are clearly not at the proper delivery address. And then when you email the supplier, they say take it up with the courier, who does not have any way of contacting them except via an "enquiry form" which they ignore. After spamming me for days with emails and texts - your order has been received/picked/packed/ out for delivery/ with the courier/ at the depot/on the truck/ delivered. Aramex. I have had a pretty bad week this week, and that is just the straw that breaks this camel's back.

Honey I feel your pain on this one

Really just a result of the ensh*tification of the digital economy. Introduce a new way of doing business (Amazon, Booking.com, Uber et al), run it at a loss for the few years delivering good results until they have you hooked and they have driven the competition out of the market then, continuously increase the price of participating, reduce the service to less than nothing, make it near impossible for you to get a resolution when there is an issue and pocket the profits. The consumer get screwed and the private equity owners buy their next private jet. That's life in 2026.

I am a regular Amazon customer and have had occasional issues , in each case I found the resolution fast, easy and fair.
Aramex is less reliable and packages may end up anywhere within 10m of our gate and the well marked parcel tray

The authorities when I did a hospital to home transition program delivered everything by Aramex. I didn’t get any response until I threatened to go to the police accusing Aramex of stealing my property that they responded and apologised.

There are 16 apartments in our complex in 4 distinct buildings. The numbering is woeful but each building has the numbers on the wall with the buzzers. We are in the front apartment.

The number of times deliveries are left on our buildings doorstep is amazing. I don't care that you're busy doing deliveries, it's not my job to take the parcel to the right building.

WCMO - there's a venerable historic and scientific organisation in Tas, which I'm a member or. They hold a number of high profile events but are very poor at their delivery.

I was invited to give a talk at an exhibition in the north of the state. Drove 2 hours there, arrived early to get set up only to find that their AV (mike and digital projector) wasn't working - in spite of having their 'tech' person there. Fiddled for over 30 mins, then I had to start without it. Came on 15 mins in ...

A recent event in Hobart; 60+ people attending, various distinguished guests. Held outside on a lovely day.

MC starts - doesn't realise the wireless mick's not on - nor do any of the organisers. We at the back had to wave our hands to get their attention. Sound on. They have 2 distinguished guests at front, facing us. Have a look where the MC was standing - behind a tree for the audience!

The sound was really crackly and fading in and out. Again, no one does anything for 10 mins or so. Then someone moves the 'receiver' a bit closer and it helps, but sound still poor throughout; one of the distguests spoke softly and didn't hold the mike close. None of the organisers noticed. At the end, someone takes the mick to make an announcement and the sound is perfect!

Not the organiser's fault, but there's always 'someone' - taking 3 spots.in the small parking area.

The car park was quickly full and up a lane way. No one tried to stop cars from going up the lane, finding no spots, doing a tight turn around and heading out again, followed by the next and the next. Knowing the size of the car park, and the number of attendees, this was entirely predictable. I've been to similar events where ther is a parking marshall - getting people to park as tight as practicable, then 'closing' the carpark at the entrance.

CMO that they can't get their act together for important events.

Our college sometimes does faux pas too!.
Annual scientific convention
Largest hall for the invited keynote speaker from across the other side of the world
Small hall for a subject of great interest - held at the SAME time slot.

Guess which one had run out of seating and standing room and overflowed out the door.....

WCMO is when you book a slot for a Coles or Woolworths delivery, say between 1 pm and 5 pm the next day and then on the day they send an email with subject "when to expect your delivery" and it tells you between 1 pm and 5 pm. Yeah, I already know that and you have already sent an order confirmation, so the email is pointless. Just send me an update when you have a more accurate time.
